Scratch-off Tourney Round 1, Wednesday's (8/13) Results

Round 1, Match 1 - MMosley wastes no time at all in sending the next batter to the plate! To catch you up, he and Madding are in the bottom of the first inning. MMosley's got runners on first and second with one out. Batter #17 knocks the dirt off his cleats and readies himself in the batter's box. The pitcher decides he has had enough, and strikes out the batter easily. As #17 heads back to the dugout, player #26 steps out and stares the pitcher down as he enters the batter's box. If MMosley is going to score, now is the time to put that into action. The pitcher decides to send this batter to first and walks him. The bases are loaded with two outs. Let's hope Madding's strategy pays off. Batter #8 comes to the plate with the hometown crowd on the edge of their seats. The pitcher sends in a series of pitches that #8 cannot seem to find, and the batter goes down swinging. A strikeout ends the first inning with the bases loaded.

At the end of one, the score is still 0-0.

Round 1, Match 2 - Joey has reached the 48-hour time limit. I noticed his blog has not been updated in a few days, so hopefully everything is okay in his world. As a substitute, I'll send in #29. The batter swings at the pitch and sends it deep into the right corner. The fielder comes up with it, but Joey has rounded second and is heading for third. The throw is on target, but a little behind the runner who slides in there for a triple! Next up, batter #02 can't handle the heat that WhiteSoxCards is throwing and he strikes out. That's 1 out with a runner on third. Next up is #04. The pitcher throws and the batter sends this ball into center field, but no where near the wall. The center fielder sits under the ball for the easy out.

Bottom of the first, 2 outs and a runner on third.

Round 1, Match 3 - We're at the top of the second inning in this match as ChrisB's Blue Jays take the field and TasteLikeDirt's Braves step up to the plate. He sends in Number 06, hoping to get something going here. The batter smacks the ball on the ground to the second baseman, who scoops it up and easily gets the out. Player Number 07 approaches the plate. He steps into the box and waits for the pitch. Here's the pitch. The batter comes around and connects with the ball, sending it deep into right field. The fielder misjudges the balland it bounces behind him and over the wall for a ground-rule double! That's 1 out with a runner in scoring position. Can Player 27 bring the on-base runner home? Let's see! The pitcher winds up and throws. Twenty-Seven swings and smacks the ball deep! This one could be outta here. The center fielder makes a beeline for the wall. He leaps and grabs the ball out of the air.

That's 2 outs with a runner on second in the top of the 2nd inning.

Round 1, Match 4 - Motherscratcher is alive and well in the bottom of the first with two outs and a runner on first. Can Chris(M) shut him down? Motherscratcher admits that his own giddiness has waned in light of the way thing are going so far... Despite that, he sends in #2. The batter swings and connects with the ball, sending it up the third base line. The third baseman can't get it and that gives Motherscratcher's Royals two runners on with two outs! Player #6 comes into the game, hoping to make something happen. Unfortunately, those hopes are sent packing as the batter strikes out to end the inning with two men stranded.

That's the end of the first inning, and we remain scoreless.

Chris(M) will bring his White Sox up to bat next as we start the second inning. The White Sox can pick from these spots: 03, 04, 05, 09, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32


Round 1, Match 5 - Erin's Orioles are up to bat with a runner on base and two outs. She sends in the next batter, Number 02. The batter swings, but pops the ball up into the air for a pop out.

We go to the bottom of the first as Voltaire's Brewers make their first batting appearance.

Round 1, Match 6 - Dayf leads going into the bottom of the first by a score of 4-0! Let's see if the Marlins (Kevin) can recoup!
