Evidently, back on April 9, early in the season, I had already discovered that both Workmans and NachosGrandes had Goldschmidt on their rosters. I then promptly forgot to fix it.
For the record, Workmans have received every Goldschmidt card pulled. As commish of this crazy giveaway, the only fair thing I can think to do is award Goldschmidt to Workmans and give NachosGrandes free pick of any unclaimed player (not including those named in the most recent draft, which the results will be posted sometime tonight).
Let's rip open some wax to ease the pain of confusion. How about another pack of 2014 Archives!
Chris Davis - Orioles - Chonks (Wahoo!!)
Christian Bethancourt - Braves - Free Agent
Nick Swisher Facsimile Auto - Indians (Wahoo!!) - GoBlues (Wahoo!!)
Aroldis Chapman 1968 Relic Game-Used! - Reds - NachosGrandes (Wahoo!!)
Mike Napoli Facsimile Auto - Red Sox - FDNYs (Wahoo!!)
Cal Ripken Jr - Orioles - TSHensons (Wahoo!!)
Talk about comeuppance! Nachosgrandes pulls a Game-Used Relic! That is freaking awesome! Congrats, man! Also congrats to the rest of you that pulled players from the pack. I really like these Archives cards, and I hope we pull some more cool inserts as I mix in these packs with the rest of them!
Yesterday, none of the cards had fake autos. Those of you in the know, what's the difference, as far as short prints/inserts if any?
*NachosGrandes, I will email you regarding the Goldschmidt Duplication.

#PackADailyCircus - Worth the Wait?
Good evening, folks! Well, I missed posting yesterday (Saturday) because my family went on a shopping/dinner/movie/shopping night and rolled back into the front yard about 2am! If you see me on PeopleofWalmart, feel free to share the pic. I am pretty sure hitting Walmart at midnight automatically qualifies one to be featured on that site.
On the upside, I grabbed a box of Archives from Target, so we'll open those during the season. In fact, let's bust one now!
Larry Doby - Indians (Wahoo!!) - Tribecards (Wahoo!!)
Jonathan Schoop - Orioles - Free Agent
Matt Kemp - Dodgers - Night Owls (Wahoo!!)
Felix Hernandez All-Star - Mariners - Otakus (Wahoo!!)
Mike Schmidt - Phillies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Jarrod Parker - A's - Free Agent
Don Mattingly - Yankees - EG9460s (Wahoo!!)
Buster Posey - Giants - Arpsmiths (Wahoo!!)
Wahoo!! I got a hit! And, it's a Doby to boot. Though, the Photoshopping has a bit to be desired (When did the "C" on the hat become a funky "O"?). Congrats to the rest of you grabbing players, too! I like the All-Star cards, those are throwback genius!
I will run the draft on Monday evening. I have some rosters issues to sort out.
*For those curious, we saw "How to Train Your Dragon 2." It was cute. It had its fun moments, but not as good as the first one, in my opinion.
Also, as an aside, part of the reason for the delay in the draft is that I helped my wife with a project for her classroom:
We built those from plywood, milk crates, fabric, and memory foam!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp15 PAD Circus Standings and the Giveaway Season Posted!
Let's talk OOTP Standings!
Unfortunately, I copied over the new stats before grabbing the old standings, so all I can do is report the current positions of the teams.
In the Blogger League:
PICADILLY DIVISION - The pack separated a bit as the FDNYs leap into first place, leading the Arpsmiths by 2 games and the Tribecards by 3 games. StealingHomes, JoshDs, and Night Owls fill in the rest of the division. Night Owls sit 13 games out of first place. What helped FDNYs jump to first? How about a current 8-game winning streak!
GREEN PARK DIVISION - The Wilsons head up this division, leading 3 games ahead of the Maddings and 6 games ahead of MySportsObsessions. The jaw-droppers come by way of the GoBlues, sitting 21 games out of first, and the DiamondKings who can't get things together yet and are holding out at 29 games behind the Wilsons.
LEICESTER DIVISION - Finding solid footing, the NachosGrandes have a 7-game lead over the Superduperman99s. The rest of the division sits with double-digit deficits: ScottCrawfordOncards - 13 behind, PlayAtThePlates - 15 behind, Trhdds - 16 behind, and the JEdiJeffs hit an 8-game slump to fall 26 games behind the leader.
OXFORD CIRCUS DIVISION - The team from Canada, CaptainCanucks, go 5-5 in their last 10 to secure an 8-game lead over the ProwlingCats. The Chonks and PatWs sit 15 and 16 games behind the leader, respectively, as the Erins lose their last 3 to fall 30 games behind the leader. Though that is the worst performace in the Blogger League, the Wordpress league will blow you away with their last-place teams.
Over in the Wordpress League, you'll want to be sitting down for this. Believe me.
PUNTO OBELISCO DIVISION - The Dawgbones go 8-2 in their last 10, grabbing a 14-game lead over second-place RJBreezes. PTownToms, Pedersejs, and Jafronius each hit a 3-7 skid, causing them to fall to 19, 23, and 28 games behind the leader, respectively). The TSHensons? They are 36 games behind Dawgbones. What's worse? That isn't even the largest margin in this league!
LILLYWHITES DIVISION - Despite a 9-1 run from the GCRLs, they remain in 3rd place here. The Hadsalls lead the Thorzuls by 8 games. GCRLs are 13 games off, but lead the ThoughtsAndSox and EG9460s. ThoughtsAndSox falls to 20 games out of first, and the EG9460s? Well, they currently hold the record for the worst deficit in the league - 43 games out of first place. They are 12-28 at home and 11-31 away. It's not pretty.
BAKERLOO DIVISON - The Quarrys, BCs, and Jennings all managed to go 7-3 in their last ten games, but it isn't enough to pull ahead of the Kazis who hold a 12-game lead over the Quarrys, a 14 game lead over BCs and a 23 game lead over the Jennings. The PatrickSmiths bring up the rear with the lowest PCT in the league: just .220, trailing the Kazis by 37 games.
CARING CROSS DIVISION - Unlike much of the rest of the league, the Workmans lead the BoRosnys by just 2 games. From there, things fall apart. The BackstopCards are 17 games behind, Dayfs are 18 games away, the Otakus sit 20 games out, and the CaptainKirk42s drag along from being 28 games off the lead.
CURRENT PAD STATS, ETC HERE!
In other news, I *finally* have been able to post the Giveaway league results. I truly had no idea that the giveaway actually had a slew of minor leagues in addition to the major league. No wonder it was such a huge repository!
Here is the link to the Major League. You can use the "HOME" button to view EVERYTHING!

#PackADailyCircus - All-Star Game... What!?
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I'm sure some of you browsed through the PAD Circus logs and discovered the same thing i did: The All-Star Game already happened! Yeap, it was played on June 22 in the game, and I had no clue until this morning when I was checking to see when the game was to be played.
In case you happened to have been as observant as I (that is, not at all), here is the link to the box scores for the OOTP all-Star Game: All-Star Box Scores
As for a quick overview, let's take a look:
A crowd of 53,087 fans came out to Cosmos Ballpark to watch the the Wordpress League stomp all over the Blogger League, winning 7-1 in the first-ever Tribecards Pack-A-Day OOTP All-Star Game! Great job from the folks on that side of the fence. On my side of the fence (I'm in the Blogger League), well, maybe next time. The fundamental difference between the two teams: home runs. Wordpress couldn't stop hitting them and the Bloggers couldn't hit a single one. You're not going to win a lot of games that way, Bloggers.
As for some stats, let's look at the hitting and field for the Wordpress League:
BATTING
Doubles: T. McDonald (23, 5th Inning off C. Kershaw, 0 on, 1 out) R. Braun (15, 1st Inning off S. Koufax, 1 on, 1 out)
Home Runs: A. Cabrera (9, 7th Inning off M. Bumgarner, 1 on, 2 outs) B. McCann (20, 8th Inning off J. Acevedo, 1 on, 2 outs)
Total Bases: T. McDonald 2 , J. Robinson , A. Cabrera 4 , R. Braun 2 , M. Cabrera , L. Berkman , B. McCann 4 , Y. Cespedes 2 , B. Harper
2-out RBI: A. Cabrera , B. McCann , Y. Cespedes
Runners left in scoring position, 2 outs: J. Robinson , R. Braun , L. Berkman 2
Team LOB: 5
BASERUNNING
SB: J. Robinson (3) , A. Cabrera (6) , R. Braun (14)
CS: Y. Cespedes (2)
FIELDING
Double Plays: 1 (McDonald-Cabrera)
PITCHING
Game Score: C. Geggus 51
Batters Faced: C. Geggus 7, J. Gonzales 4, S. Downs 4, D. Hudson 3, D. Newcombe 4, K. Adams 4, B. Parnell 3, A. Alburquerque 4
Ground Outs - Fly Outs: C. Geggus 0-5, J. Gonzales 0-3, S. Downs 1-0, D. Hudson 1-1, D. Newcombe 0-2, K. Adams 1-1, B. Parnell 0-1, A. Alburquerque 2-0
Pitches - Strikes: C. Geggus 24-18, J. Gonzales 17-7, S. Downs 10-7, D. Hudson 10-6, D. Newcombe 15-9, K. Adams 14-8, B. Parnell 10-9, A. Alburquerque 17-8
Looking over that quick glimpse, and we see a team making some serious headway throughout the game.
Now, let's take a look at the Blogger League:
BATTING
Doubles: J. Votto (22, 1st Inning off C. Geggus, 0 on, 2 outs) T. Tulowitzki (21, 7th Inning off K. Adams, 0 on, 2 outs) H. Moore (28, 9th Inning off A. Alburquerque, 1 on, 2 outs)
Triples: J. Votto (3, 4th Inning off S. Downs, 0 on, 0 outs)
Total Bases: P. Sandoval , J. Votto 5 , J. Ellsbury 2 , T. Tulowitzki 2 , H. Moore 2
Runners left in scoring position, 2 outs: J. Ellsbury , C. Michaels
GIDP: H. Moore
Team LOB: 6
FIELDING
Errors: B. Hamilton
PITCHING
Game Score: S. Koufax 40
Batters Faced: S. Koufax 10, J. Motte 4, J. Kelly 3, C. Kershaw 4, T. Ramsey 3, M. Bumgarner 5, L. Jansen 5, J. Acevedo 2, B. Beachy 1, J. Axford 1, A. Sanchez 2
Ground Outs - Fly Outs: S. Koufax 1-2, J. Motte 1-0, J. Kelly 0-2, C. Kershaw 2-0, T. Ramsey 0-1, M. Bumgarner 0-2, L. Jansen 2-1, J. Acevedo 0-0, B. Beachy 0-0, J. Axford 0-0, A. Sanchez 1-0
Pitches - Strikes: S. Koufax 47-28, J. Motte 14-8, J. Kelly 10-8, C. Kershaw 16-10, T. Ramsey 10-8, M. Bumgarner 13-7, L. Jansen 13-5, J. Acevedo 11-4, B. Beachy 5-3, J. Axford 7-4, A. Sanchez 8-5
As you can see, the folks in the Blogger League fell way short in terms of production, even with Votto's triple in the 4th. As it turns out, that was the only inning in which the Bloggers scored at all.
Both teams were pretty equal in the number of runners left on base. You just can't score points if you leave your guys sitting on the bag.
Charlie Geggus, of the Kazis, took home the Player of the Game award. Congratulations, Kazis! For that, you will get a bonus prize in your mailer at the end of the season!
Congratulations, Wordpress League All-Stars!!

#PackADailyCircus - Crisp Sox
Hello, fellow card collectors (and/or folks who happen to stop by just to see what we're up to)! We are getting closer to Independence Day, which means we are getting closer to the All-Star Game. I'm looking forward to the "real" one, but am really looking forward to the OOTP version for our simulated season.
Since we have a while before that plays out, let's open a pack of 2008 Topps Series 2.
Willy Taveras - Rockies - Free Agent
Eric Gagne - Brewers - NightOwls (Wahoo!!)
Frank Catalanotto - Rangers - Free Agent
Rod Barajas - Blue Jays - Free Agent
Hiroki Kuroda - Dodgers - BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)
Freddy Sanchez - Pirates - Free Agent
Kelly Johnson - Braves - Free Agent
Coco Crisp - Red Sox - Chonks (Wahoo!!)
Three hits on eight draws. Well, that's not a very good average at all. Okay, okay, it is better than most ML players, granted. Congratulations, managers! You've added some nice cards to your collections.
Tomorrow night (Thursday), I am going to bust open a slew of 1992 Stadium Club because I seem to have a ton of them and I am tired of looking at them sitting in the tub of cards!

#PackADailyCircus - Two-for-Tuesday Duda, Duda
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Thanks for visiting my little corner of the Interwebs to see what bits of cardboard heroism we can uncover tonight! Wait, I just realized this is TUESDAY! Well, I am going to bust a two-for-Tuesday, then! Let's get rolling.
Er, hold that thought. Somehow, I have NachosGrandes *AND* Workmans both with Paul Goldschmidt. I don't know how that happened. I will go back and see if I can figure out where the train fell off the tracks. Speaking of, it looks like I left a few folks off the free agent list (ex: Billy Ripken) this week. I will try to fix that for the next draft.
Okay, now let's bust some wax!
2012 Bowman
Lucas Duda - Mets - Free Agent
Allen Craig - Cardinals - Maddings (Wahoo!!)
Chris Carpenter - Cardinals - Wilsons (Wahoo!!)
Brett Krill Chrome - Giants - Free Agent
Taylor Whitenton Chrome - Mets - Free Agent
Ian Desmond Gold - Nationals - Free Agent
Jeff Malm - Rays - Free Agent
Brandon Jacobs - Red Sox - Free Agent
C J Wilson - Angels - Free Agent
Joey Votto - Reds - NachosGrandes (Wahoo!!)
Well, the color red sure permeated this pack! Congrats to the three of you that pulled cards (two of you literally pulling "Cards")! The rest of us, okay and you too, will see the rest of these guys in the next draft.
Let's see what the next pack brings!
1988 Donruss
Stan Musial Puzzle 49, 50, 51 - JediJeffs (Wahoo!!)
Mike Schmidt - Phillies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Sam Horn - Red Sox - Free Agent
Dick Schofield - Angels - Free Agent
Bobby Witt - Rangers - Free Agent
Chet Lemon - Tigers - Free Agent
Lance McCullers - Padres - Free Agent
Fred McGriff - Blue Jays - BackstopCards (Wahoo!!)
Steve Bedrosian - Phillies - Free Agent
Mike Devereaux - Dodgers - Free Agent
Brian Fisher - Pirates - Free Agent
Andres Galarraga - Expos - Quarrys (Wahoo!!)
Alan Trammell Diamond Kings - Tigers - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
Ripken Baseball Family (Billy, Cal Sr, Cal Jr) - Orioles - Free Agent, Free Agent?, TSHensons (Wahoo!!)
Jim Presley - Mariners - Free Agent
Jose Oquendo - Cardinals - Free Agent
Okay, well, I don't know if something weird happened to the game, the database, or what, but I would swear that Ripken Jr and Sr were both claimed. Or, did I give all Cal Ripken cards to Henson? I will check on that. In the meantime, congrats to everyone who got a hit! Looks like the commish has some back office work to do to make sure we aren't losing players somewhere. I'll keep ya posted!

Notables this week:
Prado Mini A&G
Lavarnway Mini Gypsy Queen
Galvez Bowman Chrome
Haerther Bowman Chrome
Kawakami Unique (1160/2699)
Orioles Logo Sticker
Tonight, I am busting open the second pack of 2009 Topps Unique! This pack "feels" a little heaver or something. Let's hope it holds a cool treasure!
Aubrey Huff - Tigers - Free Agent
Matt Holliday - Cardinals - Erins (Wahoo!!)
James Shields - Rays - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
Justin Morneau - Twins - GCRLs (Wahoo!!)
Alfonso Soriano - Cubs - BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)
Travis Snider Red (0929/1199) - Blue Jays - Free Agent
Bud Norris (1632/2699) - Astros - Chonks (Wahoo!!)
Congratulations, managers! I don't know why some of the seemingly regular cards have serial numbers (Norris). I am pretty jazzed that the Snider red card will be up for grabs next week! I really like this design a lot.

Tonight, I am busting open the second pack of 2009 Topps Unique! This pack "feels" a little heaver or something. Let's hope it holds a cool treasure!

Matt Holliday - Cardinals - Erins (Wahoo!!)
James Shields - Rays - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
Justin Morneau - Twins - GCRLs (Wahoo!!)

Travis Snider Red (0929/1199) - Blue Jays - Free Agent

Topps, You make my heart sing
Before we left on vacation, I ordered the special edition "Major League" wax pack from Topps. It arrived while we were away. It had rained here, and the delivery person left thenox outside. Luckily, no water seems to have made it into the sealed wax pack!
Inside, six cards featuring various characters from the movie. The cards are styled after 1989 Topps Baseball issues, as that was the year the movie was released. I wish they would have included the manager, Lou, instead of the owner. How many baseball cards were ever made of the owners!?
The cards are 5"x7" and the backs feature bios/vignettes for the featured character on the front.
These are a great addition to the Tribecards collection!!

#PackADailyCircus - Draft Day, Pack Day
Good afternoon, folks! I have the draft finished for last week - or this week - or whatever - the latest one. I will update the Managers/Players list after my vacation since we have a LOT of "fictional players" to add to the ootp.
I will cover the draft and then I will bust two of the packs we got from Mr. Workman!
First up, the randomized draft order:
This is the final draft run. I had someone (*cough* BoRosny *cough*) try to claim a player not on the list. That player will appear in the next draft. I also noticed I seemed to have made a LOT of typos. That's what I get for trying to rush... Oh well, it mostly worked out for folks:
I think sometime near the All-Star break, I will run another "Open Draft" for folks. Just because those are fun to see what players people choose. We'll see.
Now, let's get ripping because I have been wanting to dive into one of these packs since I opened the box from the Workmans!
2009 Topps Unique:
Alexei Ramirez - White Sox - MySportsObsessions (Wahoo!!)
Andre Ethier - Dodgers - Trhdds (Wahoo!!)
Russell Martin - Dodgers - BCs (Wahoo!!)
Felix Hernandez - Mariners - Otakus (Wahoo!!)
Justin Upton - Diamondbacks - Dayfs (Wahoo!!)
Bud Norris Red Border (0005/1199) - Astros - Chonks (Wahoo!!)
Kenshin Kawakami - Braves - Free Agent
Oh, man! One card away from hitting the cycle! Bummer, man! On the upside, GREAT score by the Chonks on that serial card! Also, congratulations to the other managers who pulled cards from this very cool pack. These are slick cards. I like the look and feel. Not sure how they escaped my eye before now. My scanner did a nice job pulling the black-on-black names out. That line down the cards isn't on the cards, it's on my scanner.
The next pack is a 2012 Bowman:
Matt Holliday - Cardinals - Erins (Wahoo!!)
Chipper Jones - Braves - CaptainCanucks (Wahoo!!)
Casey Haerther Chrome - Angels - Free Agent
Jonathan Galvez Chrome - Free Agent
Brett Lawrie Gold - Blue Jays - Kazis (Wahoo!!)
Chris Rearick - Rays - Free Agent
Zach Walters - Nationals - Free Agent
Myrid Richard - A's - Free Agent
David Price - Rays - TSHensons (Wahoo!!)
Dustin Pedroia - Red Sox - RJBreezes (Wahoo!!)
Congratulations to Kazis for pulling a gold card! The othe rmanagers pulling players did very well, too! Except for Rearick, the other free agents were new names to me. Of course, that doesn't mean much. I can't (and don't) keep up with players the way I used to.

#PackADailyCircus - Packs from Workman and Tribe Cards, too!
I had to work late at the office since one leg of our Internet went down (2nd day in a row for that one, yet different issues). When I met my wife at my daughter's tumbling class, she said, "You have a box from Amazon and you some baseball cards."
I knew what the amazon box had (a 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable and a 3.5" internal 72-in-1 media card reader), but until I saw the box of cards, I wasn't sure who sent it.
The Workmans sent it!! And, let me tell you, they* hooked us up for the giveaway! There are 10 "standard" packs of cards (though, I only mean that in the sense they have printer wrappers) and one pack of A&G minis in a cello wrapper. Take a gander. I'm not even sure I have seen Topps Unique before! Plus, check out the different Hobby Editions we get to bust open!
The Workmans also sent a slew of Indians cards!! Wahoo!! There are definitely cards in here that I do not own, and have never seen! The Joe Carter is a gorgeous bit of cardboard, as is the Thome Black Diamond! Heck, these are all an awesome gift!
Gotta love a Thome comic! The Perry is one of my faves. Again, there are cards in this group I have never seen. Thanks for the wonderful gifts!!
Here is a HUGE "THANK YOU" to Matthew and his wife for packs to bust and Tribecards to drool over!
*They refers to Matthew and his wife, not to the ootp fictional team of players.

#PackADailyCircus #ootp15 All-Stars and Shake-Ups
ATTENTION: DUE TO AT&T FIBER CUT, THE GAME PAGES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE
Good afternoon, card fans! I have posted an OOTP simulation update, so feel free to check it out after the wrap-up.
A couple of housekeeping things before we look at standings, stats, etc:
- First, I am taking vacation with my family next week, so I ran the simulation up to June 23. Enjoy a peek into the future!
- Second, since I have already run the simulation, this week's drafts have obviously not been included in those stats (since we haven't run the draft yet this week).
- Third, if you are a manager and have not checked your email, please do so. I moved the draft deadline to Thursday at Midnight because of vacation plans.
- Fourth, I will be doing random pack breaks during vacation. I am planning to do at least one a day, including one live from a Padres game!
- Fifth, the draft for NEXT WEEK will be run next Saturday or Sunday, depending on when we get back and how wiped out I am from the road trip. haha!
- Sixth, there's not really a sixth. I just wanted to have half a dozen things for no real reason at all.
- Seventh, well, dang, I did think of something else. The OOTP files are sitting at an uncompressed size of about 1.8GB! Yikes. I figured out part of the problem: the game was generating pictures, stats, etc for players not on anyone's roster. I fixed some of that, but it still creates player pages for EVERY player in the system, drafted or not. Once I figure out how to fix that, I should be back down a manageable file size for uploading.
- Eighth, thanks to HIFLEW, we have new names for our subleagues! Instead of SL1 and SL2, We have Blogger League and Wordpress League. The names have nothing to do with the actual format chosen by the managers in each. Maybe next season...
Okay, let's see what the future holds:
In the Blogger League:
- In Picadilly Division, the Tribecards remain in first, but there has been some serious movement below them. The Arpsmiths and FDNY's share first place with Tribecards as StealingHomes drop to 5th! JoshDs remain in fourth. (Edited, because in my haste to post, I missed the fact that we have a 3-way tie here!)
- Things in the Green Park Division haven't changed, though. The standings remain solidly as Wilsons, Maddings, MySportsObsessions, GoBlues, and DiamondKings.
- The only real change we have in the Leicester Division comes by way of PlayAtThePlates and Trhdds swapping places. So, that division looks like this: NachosGrandes, Superduperman99s, ScottCrawfordOnCards, Trhdds, PlayAtThePlates, and JediJeffs rounding things out.
- Like Green Park, the Oxford Circus teams remain in the same positions: CaptainCanucks, ProwlingCats, PatWs, Chonks, and Erins.
- Punto Obelisco keeps things steady as the Dawgbones stretch into a 12-game lead over RJBreezes. Finishing up the division, we have PTownToms, Pedersejs, Jafronius, and TSHensons.
- Teams in the Lillywhites Division also stay the course: Hadsalls, Thorzuls, GCRLs, ThoughtsAndSox and EG9460s.
- Not to be ones to rock the boat in Wordpress, Bakerloo Division teams maintain their positioning as well: Kazis, Quarrys, BCs, Jennings, and PatrickSmiths.
- Caring Cross bucks the trend, sending its teams all over the place. The Workmans topple BoRosnys for the lead. BackstopCards hold on to their 3rd place position. But, Dayfs move up a notch, pushing Otakus down to 5th place. CaptainKirk42s remain in last here.
Let's take a look at some of the league leaders:
- Dave Orr takes over as with the best batting average (.410), ousting the long-time leader Adrian Gonzalez (.404).
- Albert Pujols adds six homers (25) to take lead from Yoenis Cespedes who only managed to drive two more than he had previously (23).
- Pujols adds 18 RBIs to his total to leapfrog over Cespedes and Beals Becker for the lead, knocking in 84 so far!
- From the mound, Daniel Hudson comes out of nowhere to take the lead with 13 wins on the season, ousting Anibal Sanchez.
- Koufax remains the undisputed ERA leader (1.23) on the season and appears to have no signs of stopping.
- Toad Ramsey keeps racking up the K's and now has a league-leading 176 under his belt. That is a 12 more than his closest rival, Charlie Geggus.

Our next pack is 1992 Stadium Club Series 1:
John Orton - Angels - Free Agent
Jack McDowell - White Sox - JediJeffs (Wahoo!!)
Craig Worthington - Orioles - Free Agent
Lance Parrish - Angels - Free Agent
1992 Club Membership Card - Filler
Checklist 101-200
Larry Anderson - Padres - Free Agent
Dan Gakeler - Tigers - Free Agent
Rob Deer - Tigers - JediJeffs (Wahoo!! x2)
Jose Guzman - Rangers - Free Agent
Ryan Bowen - Astros - Free Agent
Reggie Harris - A's - Free Agent
Danny Tartabull - Royals - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
Andy Van Slyke - Pirates - Thorzuls (Wahoo!!)
Paul Gibson - Tigers - PlayAtThePlates (Wahoo!!)
Checklist 1-100
Seriously!? Two checklists in one pack. Yeesh. Guess I need to figure out what to do with checklists. Anyone collect them? I could draft them if you want, or just give them away. In any case, how about a slap on the back to JediJeffs for grabbing two from that pack!
I'll see you later tonight with a couple more!
FTC: 1978 Topps Eddie Murray
It has been a LONG time since I've done a "From the Collection" post. I am kicking off this wave of posts (hope to make it a regular feature, if I can remember to do it) by presenting one of my all-time favorite cards: 1978 Eddie Murray Rookie Card
I have owned this card since I bought it new in 1978. It came from a pack of cards I bought when I was about 9 years old. What I don't remember is whether I bought it from the local drug store ("Stan's") or if it was purchased from the hobby shop near my grandparents' house in Lakewood, OH.
What I do remember, though, is keeping this card from being glued onto a ruled notebook page, as was the custom back then among me and my friends. You can see it is kid-worn. That card has seen many flipping contests. It was one of my go-to cards when we had a pile of face-down cards on the floor. I'd break out this card and give a swift downward push, letting go just before the bending point. You can see some evidence of that on the left side in the picture where the edge is a bit worn. The corners are dinged from so many times of landing on them before the card would fall face-up on the pile, waiting for me to claim my prize.
I actually lost it in a game or two, but managed to win it back.
My brother has (or had, not sure if he still has it or not) a complete set of 1978 Topps, except for this card (unless he has acquired it). You see, many years ago, I helped him build a set of 1978 Topps by using cards we both owned. There was only one Eddie Murray, and I kept it. It was mine and still is.
I have a whole bunch of "Non-Tribers I Collect" and will be sharing those on here as well. Oh, I know, Eddie Murray *WAS* an Indians player, though. True. But, I generally only collect Indians players in Indians uniforms. As with any rule, however, there are always exceptions.

Getting Back in the Swing
One of the things that summer work hours means for me: getting back in the swing of reading blogs. When i first started blogging about Indians cards, back in 2007 no less, I spent a lot of time reading other baseball card blogs. More accurately, I spent a lot of time LOOKING for baseball card blogs. I think in those days, there were probably a handful of us - or so it seemed.
Fast forward. Life got very busy - between my own daily pack-busting posting, work in general, having kids at the "let's try everything we can" stage, and a myriad of other reasons and excuses, I quit spending a lot of time reading other blogs. Even the "Clubhouse" often goes neglected. There are some blogs I read semi-regularly, though that is all I generally do, as most readers: I read them without comment.
My summertime hours allow for a bit of time to really READ the posts and offer comment. I think that is one of the things I enjoy most about blogs in the first place: the interaction between the author and the audience.
And so, I hope to pick up on my reading and commenting.
Hope to see you on the cardboard diamond!

#PackADailyCircus - Find the Williams?
Good evening, folks! I have to look back and see if I missed posting a pack on Sunday. I think I missed one. If so, I will post a couple packs on Tuesday to make up for it. Heck, I'll post a couple packs on Tuesday anyway. Why not?
Tonight, though, we're busting 1992 Upper Deck
Armando Reynoso - Braves - Free Agent
Wilson Alvarez - White Sox - Free Agent
Bo Jackson - White Sox - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
Jason Grimsley - Phillies - Free Agent
Roger McDowell - Dodgers - Free Agent
Mike Maddux - Padres - Free Agent
Todd Frohwirth - Orioles - Free Agent
Tony Pena (Catcher) - Red Sox - Free Agent
Billy Ripken - Orioles - Free Agent
Charlie Leibrandt - Braves - Free Agent
Kirk Gibson - Royals - Trhdds (Wahoo!!)
Eddie Murray Dodgers Team Card - Dodgers - Tribecards (Wahoo!!)
Jim Abbott Stay In School - Angels - GoBlues (Wahoo!!)
Ted Williams 1947 2nd Triple Crown Baseball Heroes - Red Sox - ThoughtsAndSox (Wahoo!!)
Chito Martinez - Orioles - Free Agent
Well, unlike California Chrome, Williams not only snagged his own Triple Crown, but that card shows off his SECOND one. And, I managed to score an Eddie Murray! Awesome! Congratulations, managers! We have a bunch of free agents for next time, too.

Future Signage?
I got to thinking, which is dangerous, I know, about what Jacobs, er, Progressive Field would like should Cleveland do away with the "Indians" moniker altogether... Here is my first rough draft:
I suppose I would have to change the name of my blog as well.... nah.

#PackADailyCircus - Swing and a Miss and a busted pack
Good afternoon, everyone!
I am not sure what I did, but my OOTP files have grown, almost instantly, to over 500MB! They were around 200MB or so, zipped down to an easy 130MB or so. Then one day, a few weeks ago, they ballooned and have been growing ever since. Well, this means two things: 1) It takes MUCH longer to zip up the files for publishing and 2) I cannot upload them on my measly 1.5MB connection from CenturyStinks. That means, I can only upload the information when I am on a high-speed connection.
What I will do in the meantime, though, is at least post league updates and league leaders. The rest of it will have to come as it comes, unfortunately.
On top of that bit of great news, I messed up this week and managed to simulate rosters and games using ONLY the computer AI - yeap, if you had manual rosters I was managing, those flipped a switch. I will have everything back to normal for the next round, but I'm guessing several teams had several moves this week that may or may not have happened otherwise. All i can do is say, "I'm sorry. I messed up."
So, in the SL1 League (I need a better name for these, btw):
And in SL2, we have these standings:
As for current league leaders, here is how things are shaping up:
Let's bust open a pack of wax and see if can't spread a little sunshine for those may have only witnessed dark clouds above!
2014 Topps Stickers:
Jose Fernandez - Marlins - RJBreezes (Wahoo!!)
Jed Lowrie - A's - JoshDs (Wahoo!!)
2014 Puzzle - Red Sox - ThoughtsAndSox (Wahoo!!)
Shane Victorino - Red Sox - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Michael Cuddyer - Rockies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!! Back-to-Back!!)
Alfonso Soriano - Yankees - BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)
Yonder Alonso - Padres - BackstopCards (Wahoo!!)
Hunter Pence - Giants - StealingHomes (Wahoo!!)
Wahoo!! We hit for the cycle!! That is awesome! And, Dawgbones had back-to-back hits! Great job!! I will post pics later tonight. Right now, I am off to videotape a wedding for friends of the family!

#PackADailyCircus - Triple Threat
Welcome to Friday, everyone! For some, that means it is already the weekend. For others, it means the weekend is rapidly approaching. And, for still others, it's just another day of the week. For many, though, this Friday has a special meaning. June 06 holds a special place in history for many, many nations around the globe. Whether your country was a member of the Allies or of the Axis, the "D-Day" landings left an indelible mark on the men and women involved - directly or indirectly. Some of us have relatives that were among those who helped storm the beaches and managed to make it through alive. Some of us have family that tried to defend those beaches and who also managed to come out with their lives. Others of us have loved ones lost in battle - on either side.
If you are so inclined, take a moment and look over some of the incredible archives from this day, back in 1944, that are available on Google and from the National WWII War Museum. Take a moment and keep those who were called to action in your thoughts and prayers - just for a moment.
And, because of the heroism and sacrifices of those come and gone before us, we enjoy simple freedoms like being able to open a pack of baseball cards and write about it online for the world to see. It is a freedom I hope to never take for granted.
Today's pack comes by way of 2007 Topps Updates and Highlights
Shannon Stewart - A's - Free Agent
Tony Pena - Royals - Free Agent
Carlos Gomez - Mets - Thorzuls (Wahoo!!)
Shawn Hill - Nationals - Free Agent
Tony Armas Jr - Pirates - Free Agent
Shawn Chacon - Pirates - Free Agent
Mickey Mantle HR474 - Yankees - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Troy Tulowitzki/Jose Reyes Classic Combo - Rockies/Mets - Erins (Wahoo!!)/Kazis (Wahoo!!)
Jorge Posada/Derek Jeter/Alex Rodriguez Classic Combo - Yankees - BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)/BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)/BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)
Josh Beckett All-Star - Red Sox - ThoughtsAndSox (Wahoo!!)
Carlos Beltran All-Star - Mets - Wilsons (Wahoo!!)
Trevor Hoffman All-Star - Padres - BackstopCards (Wahoo!!)
I don't know if we have ever had a 3-player card in which the same manager owned all three players before! That is very cool! Congrats to BoRosnys for that little gem. Also, congratulations to all the other managers who pulled cards from this pack! We also have a handful of new free agents for the draft later. Good news all around.

#PackADailyCircus - Thursday Night Pack Bustin
Hey there, everyone! As I am sure you figured out by now, I did not post a pack this morning. I spent most of the morning prepping myself for an education conference my organization is co-hosting with Corwin Press today and Friday. Had a great time connecting with folks from all over Arkansas and surrounding states.
Well, I am home now, so let's get to bustin!
2007 Fleer Ultra
J D Drew - Red Sox - Free Agent
John Smoltz - Braves - CaptainCanucks (Wahoo!!)
Alex Rodriguez - Yankees - BoRosnys (Wahoo!!)
Omar Vizquel - Giants - GoBlues (Wahoo!!)
Nick Markakis - Orioles - Otakus (Wahoo!!)
Hey, we went 4-for-5! Not too shabby at all. I am surprised that Drew is a free agent. Seems kinda weird. That won't be the case for long, though. Congratulations to the managers who snagged some cardboard for their collections. Tomorrow (Friday), I should have another round of OOTP for everyone and we'll have more wax to bust.

#PackADailyCircus - Updated Rosters and Busted Wax
Good morning, folks! I have updated the Players/Managers list with the latest drafts, and you can check it out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LrQ6P9lv3ADEpGH9K3UNoSNp-HD4OJty2XHH_DxTAnw/edit#gid=878023766
I know I am off as far as the next draft goes, but we'll just scoot that until this Friday and have a big time. Or something like that!
Let's take a step back to the days of actual competition in the baseball card hobby, when companies like Donruss tried to give Topps a run for the money. Hey, I said "tried."
1990 Donruss
Carl Yastrzemski Puzzle 37, 38, 39 - Red Sox - ThoughtsAndSox (Wahoo!!)
Rafael Ramirez - Astros - Free Agent
Lee Guetterman - Yankees - Free Agent
Terry Kennedy - Giants - Free Agent
Kent Anderson - Angels - Free Agent
Gregg Olson - Orioles - Free Agent
Don August - Brewers - Free Agent
Steve Finley - Orioles - BackstopCards (Wahoo!!)
Spike Owen - Expos - Free Agent
Larry Walker - Expos - Quarrys (Wahoo!!)
Jerome Walton - Cubs - Free Agent
Darrin Jackson - Padres - Free Agent
Dan Plesac - Brewers - Thorzul (Wahoo!!)
Garry Templeton - Padres - Free Agent
Mike Morgan - Dodgers - Wilsons (Wahoo!!)
Curt Wilkerson - Cubs - Free Agent
Jeff Kunkel - Rangers - Free Agent
Wow, that is far more free agents than I would have expected. And, my brain is playing tricks on me because I remember some of these folks from last season and they had been drafted. So, when I search for them this time and they come up empty, I pause like, "Wait... that can't be... nevermind." Well, congrats to the handful of folks pulling cards for their collections!

#PackADailyCircus - Draft Day, Pack Day
Good morning, everyone!
I finally got the 05/30 draft run! I appreciate everyone's patience as I step through the various aspects of running the breaks. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been having fun with some of the very cool cards we've seen and with the whole simulated season aspect. It has certainly modified the draft choices I make somewhat. Of course, when it is all said and done, we have the luck of the draw on draft day, and may not end up with the key players we had hoped... just like real life, eh!
Without further delay, here are the draft notes:
Initial picks in random order:
Final results:
I will have the Managers/Players list updated later tonight or Wednesday morning. ThoughtsAndSox got shut out this time. Man, I hate to see shut-outs. Nature of the beast, though.
Now, let's bust some wax!
2008 Goudey
Jeff Francoeur - Braves - BackstopCards (Wahoo!!)
Frank Thomas - A's - Jafronius (Wahoo!!)
Jack Cust - A's - Thorzuls (Wahoo!!)
Rich Hill - Cubs - Free Agent
Jason Bay - Pirates - Free Agent
Torii Hunter - Angels - Jennings (Wahoo!!)
Dan Gable Sport Royalty - Wrestling - Free Agent
Tiger Woods Sport Royalty - Golf - Free Agent
Congrats to Jennings for pulling a card right after drafting the player! Nice! Also congrats to the rest of you scoring players this time. We also have a couple non-players to draft next time. How will Tiger do at the plate? We shall see...

#PackADailyCircus - PAD Circus Simulation Update!
Good afternoon, baseball card fans! We've got the latest OOTP update from the PAD Circus League!
The update is found here: http://tinyurl.com/padcircus/
Dave Orr takes over as league-leading batting average. Adrian Gonzalez's batting reign has been overthrown by Orr's efforts, raising Orr to a .415 (where Gonzalez was last time) as Gonzlez drops to .410 for this round.
Yoenis Cespedes continues his lead in home runs, now with 21 on the season. He also breaks away from the pack in RBIs as the sole leader with 66 batters knocked in.
As for the pitching, Anibal Sanchez keels his lead with 11 wins. Koufax takes over the ERA leader spot as Kershaw falls to a 1.24 ERA. Toad Ramsey continues to rack up strikeouts, now with 148 on the season.
In big news in the Picadilly Division comes from the FDNYs who have been slowly inching their way up. They are currently tied with Tribecards and Arpsmiths for second place.
Nothing changed in the Green Park Division as the Wilsons continue to lead that group.
The same holds true for Leicester - same standings as last time, though the Superduperman99s close the gap by a game, sitting 7 behind NachosGrandes.
Everyone in the Oxford Circus Division lost ground, as the CaptainCanuck continue climbing, coming off a 4-game winnig streak.
Standings remain stagnant in Punto Obelisco. The Dawgbones move further away from the pack, however, as they now sit 9 games ahead of the RJBreezes.
The Hadsalls are running away with the Lillywhites Division, now 8 games in front of Thorzuls. The EG9460's head the other direction and fall to 31 games out of first place.
As we have seen in other divisions, Bakerloo is brutal on everyone but the Kazis. They hold a 9-game lead over the Quarrys. The owrst-performing team here are the PatrickSmiths, dropping 5 games to sit 26 games off the leader.
And, in caring Cross, BoRosnys maintian their 2-game lead over Workmans, but everyone else in the division dropped at least two games.
After all is said and done, it's a wonder we had any teams that actually won at all! (My poor attempt at a Yogi-ism)
