Strange Things Are Happening To Me

Quick note: I don't know, exactly, what was causing my site to redirect to some weird ad site, but I've disabled all ads, counters, etc, and that seems to have fixed it.

So, now I will attempt to answer comments!

Thanks, --David

A tasty treat from Nachos Grande

Waaaay back in September, I got an envelope from Chris over at Nachos Grande. Somehow, I managed to forget to post what was inside! Well, we're taking care of that RIGHT NOW!

Inside the envelope was a cut-up pocket page, so I got a 3-pocket section. In each section, there were two cards, er items!

He sent me two "Crash the Game" cards (top), a 1991 Sandy Alomar Jr All-Star card from UD (lower left), a 1997 Score Hobby Reserve Kevin Mitchell, and two 1995 Fleer/Panini baseball Stickers (bottom right)!

These are very cool! THANK YOU so much, Chris! There are certainly a tasty Tribecards treat!

Cards, Packs and More from Hot Corner Cards!

Hello, everyone!
Sorry I haven't written in a while, but as usually happens after the season ends, I took a break from posting to get myself ready for sorting and packing. That will be happening over the next couple weeks. I had planned to get it all done over Thanksgiving, but it didn't, so basically, we're looking at a Christmas delivery schedule.

In the meantime, I spent some time this past week in San Diego at a conference. While there, I walked over to Petco Park for the Winter Wonderland, which was awesome! I will post pics of that and the stories to go with them next time.

But, tonight, I am posting because Hot Corner Cards sent a BIG box of wax for next season's Tribecards Pack-A-Day Giveaway. When I say a BIG box, I mean it!

What is in this thing!? How about no fewer than 70 packs of 1991 Upper Deck!? How about at least three Qubi's!? How about several other wax packs (at least 9 of them) from various years/companies/etc!? The UD packs are opened, so I assume each one has whatever cards HCC didn't want out of them. Then again, maybe they were opened and who knows why. I do know that they seem to have a different amount of cards in the packs - some are thicker than others. I am not holding that against anyone! I will take gift wax packs any day of the week. This is going to be so much fun!

Top all that off with a plastic box of loose cards, most of which are Indians - one is a 1957 Al Smith no less! There is also a bubblewrap envelope with at least 100 Indians cards in there as well! And, I cannot forget to mention several loose cards just floating around the box. WOW! This is an amazing start to next year's giveaway program! (Er, excuse the extraneous sundries strewn about the desktop)

Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I will sort through the Indians to see which cards I need for my personal collection. Any cards I already have will be used in next year's giveaway.

THANK YOU so much to HOT CORNER CARDS for this incredible gift!

How about the Rookies for the year?

Moore This Year's Blogger League Best Rookie: It wasn't a stroke of good luck that got Utah's Henry Moore the 2013 Blogger League Best Newcomer, it was his skill on the field. The gifted left fielder performed well with a .379 batting average, while playing in 155 games and delivering 234 hits in 617 at-bats. His totals also included 1 home run, 80 RBIs, 99 runs scored, 58 walks and a .434 OPB.Eric Hosmer of the California JoshDs finished second in voting, while Lonnie Chisenhall of the Arkansas Tribecards finished third.

Over in the WordPress League, Cespedes Rewarded with Best Newcomer: All the votes are in for the Wordpress League Best Newcomer. The honor for 2013 has been presented to Yoenis Cespedes, left fielder for the EG9460s. He fashioned a .343 batting average, piling up 210 hits in 612 at-bats, 37 home runs, 61 walks, 136 RBIs and a .406 OBP.Bryce Harper of the Minnesota GCRLs finished second in voting, while Charlie Geggus of the Ontario Kazis finished third.

Blogger League Manager of Year:
DeShon of Illinois Voted Top Manager in BL: An outstanding season by the Superduperman99 garnered their manager Weston DeShon the Blogger League Manager of the Year award for 2013. He led Illinois to a 94-68 record this year and a third place finish in the Blogger League Leicester Division. Even so, DeShon seemed less than thrilled. "I don't give a damn about the award," he growled to reporters, "I just want this team to win championships!"

WordPress Manager of the Year:
WL Top Skipper is Workman of Florida: Matt Workman has molded the Florida Workmans into a top-flight Wordpress League team. The 2013 Skipper of the Year came into spring training with a commitment to getting the most out of his Workmans. "I told them I had no preconceived notions about them, that all of them were blank slates as far as I was concerned. I told them to learn my system and we would win. I told them all the spots on the roster were open, that the best players would play -- young or old, rookie or vet -- and that I expected them to hustle, to work hard, and play as a team. They bought into it and made me look good." And Matt Workman certainly got the most out of his ballclub. The Workmans wrapped up the season in first place in the Wordpress League Caring Cross Division with a 112-50 record.

Top Hurler Ring Toss Awards for Blogger and WordPress Leagues:

Madison Bumgarner Top Blogger League Hurler: 22-year-old Madison Bumgarner of the Dominic FDNYs put together a good year in 2013 for such a young player. Bumgarner was named today as the winner of the Blogger League Ring Toss Champion. Bumgarner crafted an impressive 22-5 record and a 1.81 ERA. In 244 innings he allowed 203 hits, struck out 247, and walked 34.Toad Ramsey of the Arkansas Tribecards finished second in voting, while Alex Voss of the Illinois Superduperman99 finished third.

Kazis Star Receives WordPress Ring Toss Champion: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Charlie Geggus performed like a veteran on the hill for the Ontario Kazis and walked away with the Wordpress League Ring Toss Champion in the process. The 22-year-old Kazis star fashioned a 27-3 won-loss record in 2013 with a 1.63 ERA. In 248.1 innings of work and 33 starts, Geggus struck out 340 while giving up 156 hits and 76 walks. He held opposing batters to a .181 average.Roy Halladay of the Texas RJBreezes finished second in voting, while Daniel Hudson of the Wisconsin Thorzuls finished third.

And, finally, we have the Super Stick Swinger Awards:

Votto Nabs Blogger League Super Stick Swinger: It's been a year of triumph for veteran Joey Votto of the Pennsylvania NachosGrandes as he hit his way to the 2013 Blogger League Super Stick Swinger. The 28-year-old veteran compiled a .354 average and .454 on-base percentage by putting together 218 hits, 42 doubles, 4 triples, 38 home runs and 114 walks. He also scored 146 times and drove in 117 runs.Matt Kemp of the New York Night Owls finished second in voting, while Albert Pujols of the Missouri Wilsons finished third.

Great Year Gets Gonzalez WordPress League Super Stick Swinger: Adrian Gonzalez has been around PackADaily League enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2013 season, he's taking home the Super Stick Swinger in the Wordpress League. The Minnesota first baseman put up a batting average of .403 with 62 doubles, 1 triple, 32 home runs and 131 RBIs.Lance Berkman of the Texas RJBreezes finished second in voting, while Ryan J Braun of the Wisconsin Thorzuls finished third.

Congratulations, Managers and players! I will most likely come up with other PAD-Specific Awards as well, so be sure to check back. Plus, I will have a season wrap-up post, talking about the good, bad, and ugly of hosting this past season's Tribecards Giveaway.

Thanks to EVERYONE that played along or watched from the bleachers! This was a lot of work, but was also some of the most fun I've had collecting and doing the giveaways!

#packadailycircus #ootp - World Series Action: Game 6

Good evening, everyone! Tonight, we move things over to Florida as the Workmans play host to the Dominic FDNYs. The FDNYs are trailing the series 3-2 as the Workmans dominated in the last game. Will Florida win the game and take the first-ever Tribecards Pack-A-Day World Series? Or will the FDNYs fight back and tie the series?

Let's see what happens tonight!

1st Inning: Things get underway, but neither team is able to get runners across the plate and they end the inning 0-0.

2nd Inning: The FDNYs bring two run in to take the lead, but then the Workmans come right back and answer with two of their own, tying things up. At the end of two, the score is tied 2-2.

3rd Inning: Neither team can do enough to get anyone to score, so things remain tied up at 2-2.

4th Inning: The FDNYs get one run in while keeping the Workmans off the board. FDNYs lead 3-2 at the end of the inning.

5th Inning: No one scores in the 5th.

6th Inning: Both teams blank out in the 6th, leaving the score with the FDNYs ahead 3-2/

7th Inning: It looks like the steam i out of both teams here, as we finish the 7th inning and the score is still 3-2, FDNYs leading.

8th Inning: Dominic shows some life and pulls a runner across the plate, extending their lead to 4-2 and the Workmans seem helpless to do anything about it.

9th Inning: Coming into the 9th, FDNYs lead 4-2. The Workmans keep them from scoring. FDNYs return the favor, and go on to tie the series at 3 games apiece with a victory win!

Congratulations FDNYs!! WOW!! We are headed to a Game 7 finale here at Tribecards! This is very cool! I am so glad the 1st-ever Pack-A-Daily World Series is going all the way to Game 7. I cannot wait to see what happens tomorrow night! Which team will emerge the victor and take the crown?

#packadailycircus #ootp - World Series Game 5: The Tie Breaker

Good evening, folks! Last night, I was out doing some sideline computer consulting and didn't get our game posted. Sorry about that!

The series is tied at 2 games each, so let's see what happens here tonight!

1st Inning: Florida starts things off without delay, scoring a run and keeping FDNYs from doing the same. They lead it 1-0 at the end of one.

2nd Inning: Neither team scores. Workmans lead 1-0.

3rd Inning: The Workmans knock in 2 runs, extending their lead. The FDNYs can't find their rhythm. Workmans lead 3-0 in the 3rd.

4th Inning: The Workmans bring in another 2 runs in the top of the inning while keeping the FDNYs guessing. That's now a 5-run lead for the Workmans in the 4th.

5th Inning: FDNYs shut down the Workmans and manage to bring a runner home in the process.  Workmans lead 5-1 after five.

6th Inning: The FDNYs keep the Workmans at bay, not letting them score. Meanwhile, the Workmans give up 2 runs, bringing the FDNYs closer to tying things up. Score is 5-3 as we end the 6th inning.

7th Inning: Wow. The Workmans score a run for each inning of play so far. That's right, they score 7 runs in the 7th inning. Stunned, FDNYs can't do anything and now the Workmans lead 12-3.

8th Inning: Neither team scores in the 8th.

9th Inning: Neither team scores in the 9th, either. That means the Workmans break the tie with a 12-3 victory over the FDNYS! Wow, what a game!

Congratulations to the Florida Workmans for making a statement as they move ahead of the FDNYs, leading the series 3 games to 2!

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! The teams took the night off last night, so they are ready for action tonight! The Florida Workmans lead the series two games to one over the FDNYs. Will the Workmans extend their lead or will the FDNYs tie things up? Let's see what happens!

1st Inning: Florida steps in, but ends up leaving 2 runners on base. The FDNYs can't make anything happen either. Score: 0-0

2nd Inning: The Workmans get 2 hits and leave 2 runners on base, but can't bring in a run. The FDNYs score a run on a Logan Morrison solo homer. Score 0-1, FDNYs

3rd Inning: The Workmans repeat the previous inning with 2 hits and 2 left on. FDNYs leave a runner on as well. Score 0-1, FDNYs lead.

4th Inning: Workmans get a hit and strand a runner, but cannot bring a score across the plate. Logan Morrison hits a 2-run homer followed by a Frank Malone 2-run homer, adding 4 runs to the FDNYs lead. Score: 0-5, FDNYs

5th Inning: Workmans get a run as Solano scores on a Trumbo single. FDNYs answer with a Middlebrooks run. Score 1-6, FDNYs.

6th Inning: The Workmans add 3 runs on a Miguel Cabrera homer.  The FDNYs score on an error and then tack on another run as David Ortiz crosses the plate on a Napoli single. Score: 4-8 FDNYs

7th Inning: Asdrubal Cabrera knocks a homer for the Workmans. The Workmans keep FDNYs from scoring. They close the gap! Score: 5-8 FDNYs lead.

8th Inning: The Workmans fail to score as the FDNYs bring Morrison in for a run. Score: 5-9 FDNYs

9th Inning: The Workmans fail to add any more runs, and the FDNYs win another game, tying the series at 2 games apiece.

Congratulations, FDNYs! Wow!! The series is tied as we move to the fifth game tomorrow night. Which team will take the lead? Tune in to find out!

#packadailycircus #ootp - World Series Game 3: Moving venues

Good, er, morning, folks! Time has just shifted backward here in Tribecardsland. Well, not really, but we changed our clocks so we pretend time has shifted in the most ridiculous waste of, well, time. I digress. Often.

Things have changed as we move to the home of the FDNYs for this game. Will the home field advantage play a part tonight for the FDNYs? Will the Workmans continue their winning streak?

Let's tune in and find out!

1st Inning: neither team scores.

2nd Inning: The Workmans score a run and take the lead. FDNYs struggle to get runners going. Score 1-0 Workmans.

3rd Inning: The Workmans score again! But, the FDNYs also score a run! Now, the Workmans lead 2-1.

4th Inning: Neither team can points on the board. Score is still 2-1 Workmans,

5th Inning: The Workmans chalk up another run, increasing their lead to 3-1. The FDNYs are not able to match them, and end the inning trailing further behind.

6th Inning: Both teams come up empty.

7th Inning: Again, no one scores.

8th Inning: We still see no more scoring and time is running out for the FDNYs! They trail 3-1 as we head into the 9th inning.

9th Inning: FDNYs keep Workmans from scoring, but the same cannot be said in reverse. FDNYs score TWO runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and force extra innings!

10th Inning: Neither team can score a run to win the game.

11th Inning: Still nothing added to either side. How long is this game going to last?

12th Inning: Players seem to be wearing down, but neither team manages to put a runner across the plate.

13th Inning: We've got quite a game here, folks! No runs scored means that we go into the 14th inning still tied at 3 runs each!

14th Inning: You have got to check out the log for this game. The game just keeps going. At the end of 14, we are STILL tied!

15th Inning: The Workmans come up and go down without scoring. The FDNYs, however, score a game-winning solo shot delivered by Mike Napoli!

The FDNYs win the game! The Workmans came close to winning and really putting the pressure on the FDNYs, but the home team wins the game.

Congratulations to the FDNYs! The series is now 2-1. The Workmans lead things, and we will see if they can boost their lead in the next game or if the FDNYs can tie things up. Be sure to stay tuned!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - World Series Game 2 - Will the Workmans Continue Domination?

Good afternoon, simulated baseball game fans! Today, as we sit under chilly but sunny skies, the FDNYs will try to save face against the Workmans after last night's awful loss. The Workmans, on the other hand, will attempt to keep things humming along, as their seemingly well-oiled machine continues to roll down the tracks toward PAD World Series history.

Just as we did before, we'll take things inning by inning.

1st Inning: Neither team scores here, as bats and players seem to need a bit of a warm up.

Top 2: The FDNYs get a runner on base, but he is picked off trying to lead to 2nd.
Bot 2: The Workmans score a run on a sacrifice fly, take the lead 1-0

3rd Inning: FDNYs go 3-up/3-down. The Workmans manage to get 2 on, but leave them hanging.

4th Inning: FDNYs get a player on base, but can't score a run. The Workmans pull an encore performance of the 3rd inning and leave two runners on without pulling the trigger to get them home.

5th Inning: Neither team seems able to do much, so the score remains 1-0 Workmans.

Top 6: Bonifacio gets a single. Napoli reaches first after a passed ball. Logan Morrison steps up and knocks the ball out of the park, pushing the FDNYs to a 3-1 lead.

Bot 6: Workmans leave 3 on and fall short of bringing anyone in to score.

Top 7: FDNYs lose steam, ending the inning with no hits, no runs, and no one left on base.

Bot 7: Miguel Cabrera hits a lead-off homer. Matt Davidson gets walked, leading to a 2-run homer by Asdrubal Cabrera. Workmans take back the lead, 4-3. That's two home runs by a pair of Cabreras in a single inning. Yeah, I don't know the significance there, either. It was just fun to say.

Top 8: The FDNYs manage to land a player on base, but fail to do much of anything else.

Bot 8: Workmans lead off with a Chris B Young homer then fizzle. But, that increases the lead 5-3 as we go into the 9th inning.

Top 9: Deion Sanders gets sent in to pinch run after a Logan Morrison double. Kiner gets on base after that. Frank Malone hits a single, and Sanders gets thrown out at home trying to reach for extra bases. The Workmans load the bases and Kiner scores on a Kottaras walk. The FDNYs trail by 1 run as Big Papi comes to bat. He ends up striking out swinging, ending the game.

The Workmans take Game 2 in the series, beating the FDNYs 5-4. This game was much closer than Game 1, and it makes you wonder if one team is gaining while the other is petering out.  We'll see what happens LATER TONIGHT as we will have another game this evening!

Congratulations to the Workmans! They are off to a 2-game lead in the PAD Circus World Series. Can the FDNYs fight back? Are the Workmans losing steam? Well, they did score 5 runs, so...

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - World Series Game 1 (FDNYs at Workmans)

Good evening, PAD Circus fans! Welcome to the first game of the inaugural Tribecards PAD Giveaway World Series!!  Tonight, the Florida Workmans host the Dominic FDNYs. The FDNYs came into the playoffs through a wildcard bid, while the Workmans had clinched their chances by the end of the regular season.

These two teams never faced each other during the regular season, so we are talking about an old-school, no interleague play World Series here! This should be a good one. If we're choosing super powers and underdogs, the Florida Workmans are certainly the super power of the two. They went 112-50 in the regular season while the FDNYs not only came in as a last-chance wildcard team, their record finished up at 95-67.

In the playoffs, the Workmans went 3-1, 4-0, and 4-1, essentially blowing each of their competitors out of the water. The FDNYs went 3-1, 4-1, and 4-3 in their rounds, seeming to lose ground the longer they've played.

Since we've had a few nights off, both teams should be well-rested and ready for action!

Let's run this down inning-by-inning!

Top 1: FDNYs fail to get any players across the plate.
Bot 1: Workmans score THREE runs to take the lead 3-0

Top 2: FDNYs get blanked again.
Bot 2: Workmans cannot score, still lead 3-0

Top 3: FDNYs have trouble getting players in action, remain scoreless
Bot 3: Workmans add ONE run, bumping the lead to 4-0

4th Inning: Neither team gets any runs on the board.

5th Inning: See 4th inning - score remains 4-0 Workmans

Top 6: FDNYs just can't find the ball nor the plate this game, still scoreless.
Bot 6: Workmans add TWO more runs, stretching the lead to 6-0.

Top 7: FDNYs continue to struggle; cannot score.
Bot 7: Workmans go on an absolute tear, scoring EIGHT runs. They lead 14-0!

8th Inning: FDNYs stop the bleeding, but cannot do any damage themselves; remain shut out.

Top 9: Workmans blank the FDNYs, and go on to win the game 14-0! Holy smokes!

You can see the game log for Game 1 here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l3o46Fu5t_SII75mVX5CDt3HpC7WkK7YhKA8OqTC0gM/edit?usp=sharing

Congratulations to the Florida Workmans, who now lead the series 1 game to 0. Can the FDNYs find a way to get their groove back? Was it the home crowd? Was it 1st game jitters? We will have to wait and see!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Playoffs Resume!! World Series Teams Revealed! WAHOO!!

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! I am back from my conference in Minneapolis and it is time to play some serious catch-up in the OOTP PAD Circus Playoffs!

It's been a while since we last played, so let's do a quick recap of things:

In the Blogger League, Dominic FDNYs and Texas PlayAtThePlates are tied at 2 game each.

In the WordPress League, Florida Workmans hold a 3 game lead over the Ontario Kazis.

In the first game tonight, we will find out who takes over the lead in the BL while crossing our fingers that the Kazis can fight to stay in the championship playoffs.

Let's do the "3-inning rundown!"

The PlayAtThePlates start things off with a 2 run 1st inning. This is met by a single score in the 2nd inning from the FDNYs, and the finish the 3rd inning trailing 2-1.  Over in the other game, neither the Workmans nor the Kazis manage to put any points on the board after three innings.

Taking a cue from Florida and Ontario, the Dominc FDNYs and Texas go scoreless through the 6th inning, leaving the FDNYs a run behind. The 5th inning brings a run for the Workmans and they lead the Kazis 1-0 after six innings.

Texas snags 2 more runs in the 7th inning, and the FDNYs fail to meet the challenge, ending the game with the PlayAtThePlates winning 4-1 and now leading the series 3 games to 2. Meanwhile, the Kazis also add a run in the 7th, tying the game! The Workmans tack one on in the 9th, though and THEY take the lead as the Kazis came to bat in the bottom of the inning. The Kazis faced elimination as they came to the plate, and they just couldn't handle the Workmans,

The Florida Workmans become the first team to advance to the PAD Circus World Series!!  WAHOO!! Congratulations, Workmans!!

Now that the Workmans have advanced, they can sit back and see what happens between Texas and Dominic FDNYs. Let's take a look at game six in the BLCS!

The teams remained scoreless after three innings. PlayAtThePlates score a run in the 4th, but blank out the FDNYs, ending the 6th inning with a 1-run lead.

The PlayAtThePlates add another run in the 7th, but the FDNYs manage to score 4 runs in the 8th inning, taking lead. The PlayAtThePlates fail to bring any players across the plate in the 9th inning, losing the game. FDNYs win 4-2, and they tie the series at 3 games apiece! This one is going all the way to seven games!!

Holy smokes! It all comes down to this one game to see which team will advance and become the second team to ever play in the PAD Circus World Series and be the 1st ever Blogger League champion! These two teams have battled back and forth to get here and now this final matchup will determine it all.

We're going to take this one inning-by-inning, just to make you wiggle in your seats. In the 1st inning, neither team scores as final-game jitters seem to get the best of both teams.

In the 2nd, Texas still can't get a runner across the plate, but the FDNYs score a run, taking the lead 1-0 at the end of two.

Neither team scores in the 3rd or 4th innings, leaving the score 1-0 FDNYs.

In the bottom of the 5th, FDNYs add a run and then repeat the feat again in the bottom of the 6th. Things are not looking good for PlayAtThePlates as they trail 3-0 at the end of 6 innings.

The 7th and 8th innings also prove challenging for both teams. neither team is able to add any points to the scoreboard.

As we go into the 9th, Texas needs 3 runs to tie and 4 runs to take the lead. As it happens, they are unable to get a single player to score. The FDNYs win the game 3-0 and hold PlayAtThePlates to just 3 hits, shutting them out!

Congratulations, Dominc FDNYs!! WAHOO!! You won the BLCS and are advancing to the PAD Circus World Series!!

Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing history in the making! The Florida Workmans will take on the Dominic FDNYs in the 1st ever PAD Circus World Series!! That action will start on Tuesday Night (er, real Tuesday, as in October 28, 2014).

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - BLCS and WCLS Game 4 Action and a Mascot Trial Update!

Good evening, folks! Welcome to another night of PAD Circus Championship baseball! Last night, the Texas PlayAtThePlates held off the Dominic FDNYs, winning their first game of the BLCS! The FDNYs still lead the series two games to one, however. Will the FDNYs show their dominance or will Texas tie things up in the series? And, how about the Florida Workmans!? They lead the series against the Ontario Kazis three games to none. Will the Kazis fight back or do the Workmans become the first team in Tribecards history to make it to the giveaway World Series!? This could prove to be an exciting night, no matter which way things go.

Let's get into it and see what happens. As has become something of the norm around here, I will break things down according to every 3rd inning. So, without further rambling, here we go!

The Kazis jumped into their game with a 2-run 1st inning start! They then added another run in the 2nd inning. The Workmans finally put a run on the board in the 3rd inning, but trailed 3-1 at the end of three. Meanwhile, Texas put a run in the books during the 2nd inning and then added two more in the 3rd inning while keeping the FDNYs from scoring at all through three innings.

As we look at innings 4 through 6, the Workmans add a run in the 4th and the Kazis answer right back with 3 of their own. The teams went scoreless in the 5th and 6th, so at the end of six innings, the Kazis led 6-2. These guys are not going quietly! In the other game, neither team scored in the 4th or 5th innings, but in the top of the 6th, the FDNYs grab two runs, cutting the Texas lead to one run at they finished up the 6th with Texas having 3 runs and FDNYs with a pair.

The Workmans trail heading into the 7th inning by a score of 6-2. Both teams go scoreless in the 7th inning, but in the bottom of the 8th, the Kazis tack on a whopping 4 more runs to lead the game 10-2 heading into the 9th. As that is going on, Texas adds a run in the 7th and another run in the 8th, increasing their lead to 5-2 as that game headed into the 9th.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Kazis shut down the Workmans, and they fight to see another day of Championship play! Final score: Kazis 10, Workmans 2. The Workmans lead that series 3-1, so we'll see if they can take the WLCS title or if the Kazis can continue fighting to stay alive!  Just as the Kazis kept their opponent from scoring in the ninth, so, too, did Texas. The PlayAtThePlates keep the FDNYs scoreless in the ninth and win the game, tying the series at 2 games each!

In other PAD Circus News, we have an update regarding the fraud scheme cooked up by the Marlins Mascot (in the fictional PAD Circus League. This isn't real, folks!):

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - BLCS/WLCS Championship Rounds, Game 3

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! We've had a couple nights off here in the PAD Circus Championship Series, so hopefully the teams are well-rested and ready for action!

When we left things, the Dominic FDNYs led the Blogger League 2-0 over the Texas PlayAtThePlates. Can Texas hold on and keep the FDNYs from jumping out to a 3-game lead? We'll find out in a moment.

Before we look at results, though, let's talk about the Wordpress League. The Florida Workmans grabbed a 2-game lead over the Ontario Kazis. So, much like Texas in the other series, the Kazis are hoping to put the kibosh on Florida.

So, let's see what happened in each series game, three innings at a time.  In the BLCS, both teams were scoreless at the end of the first, but Texas knocked in a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning. At the end of three, Texas led 1-0.  Meanwhile, in the WLCS, both teams remained scoreless through two innings, but each grabbed a run in the 3rd, resulting in a 1-1 tie after three.

Shifting back to the FDNYs/PlayAtThePlates game, Dominic scores a run in the top of the 5th and Texas answers with a run in the bottom of the sixth, taking lead 2-1 after six innings.  Neither the Workmans nor the Kazis can muster up a run in the next three innings there, so they remain tied at one run apiece when the final out of the 6th inning is called.

The FDNYs cannot get a runner to cross the plate before the outs add up. They lose the game 2-1, though they maintain a 2-1 lead in the series.  In the other game, Florida adds three runs in the 7th inning, leaving Ontario to play catch-up. They can't do it, however, and the Workmans now lead that series 3-0 over the Kazis.

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Championship Series Games 1 and 2!

Good evening, folks! Sorry we have been away longer than anticipated, but the good news is we have a DOUBLE-HEADER to kick off the Tribecards PAD Circus Championship Series!

Tonight, we have the Blogger League Championship Series (BLCS) and the Wordpress League Championship Series (WLCS).

Featured in the Blogger League, we have the Texas PlayAtThePlates playing against the Dominic FDNYs in Game One action!

Over in the Wordpess League, we'll watch the Ontario Kazis take on the Florida Workmans.

Remember, we have TWO games tonight.  As always, here is the link to the game logs:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1Z8vNjtCJDAdXZGcDlWblZ6LWc&usp=drive_web

In first game action, the Texas PlayAtThePlates scored THREE RUNS in the 1st inning! Things were looking bad for the FDNYs until the pulled in a run during the bottom of the 3rd. The PlayAtThePlates could not add any more points through the 6th inning, but in the bottom of the 6th, the FDNYs stepped up and knocked in 4 runs to take lead! Going into the 8th, Texas trailed by 2 runs. They managed to score a run in the 8th inning, but that's all they could muster and the FDNYs walk away with Game 1, winning 5-4.

Meanwhile, the Kazis also jumped out early, grabbing a run in the 2nd inning followed by 2 more in the 3rd! The Workmans would remain scoreless until the 5th inning, but they could only score 1 run. Going into the bottom of the 9th, the Workmans trailed 2-3 and things did not look good. But, they managed to knock in 2 runs to tie the game and force Game One into extra innings. Neither team scored in the 10th, and the Kazis ended the 11th still tied with Workmans . In the bottom of the 11th, though, Florida brought a runner home after a crazy balk and an error from the Kazis. the Workmans win it in 11, 4-3!!

After suffering a loss, could Texas tie things up against the Dominic FDNYs, or will the FDNYs jump out to a two-game lead? Let's see what happened... The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd when FDNYs scored a run. Two innings later, they added another run to the board while the PlayAtThePlates had yet to find home plate. The scored remained 2-0 through 8 innings. In the top of the ninth, Texas grabbed a single run, but could not find a way to tie the game. The FDNYs now lead the series 2 games to 0.

As we moved into the second game of the double-header, the Kazis had to be asking themselves what they could do to keep the Workmans from scoring. Unfortunately, they did not have the answers, giving up 5 runs in the first inning! The Workmans came in ready and fired up from their first game and they never looked back, adding a run in the 3rd, 2 runs in the 4th, and another run in the 5th. As the Kazis came up to bat in the top of the sixth inning, they found themselves trailing 9-0. And, that is where things stood for the rest of the game. Workmans win the game 9-0 and take a 2-game lead in the series.

Who will face each other in the World Series? So far, it looks pretty cut and dry. But, we have a long way to go before we crown the Blogger League and WordPress League champions. Stay tuned for more baseball action in the coming days!

#packadailycircus #ootp - Playoffs: I have seen enough to know I have seen too much...

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Yes, I borrowed a quote from "League of Their Own" to headline tonight's post. And, you can probably guess just why I picked it. But, if you can't guess just yet, well, stick around for the grand unveiling.

In one game, the winning team shut out the losing team.
In one game, the two teams combined for an 8-run total.
In one game, the winning team took the series and moves on to the next round.
In one game, there were exactly zero errors.
In one game, there were zero home runs.
In one game, there were two home runs.
In one game, the losing team lost the series.

To help build suspense, we'll take a short break:

(image from here)

Yeap, that's right. Did you figure it out? The Texas PlayAtThePlates blanked the Tribecards, coming in to take the game and the series. They will move on to the Blogger League Championship to face the FDNYs in a best-of-seven match-up! Congratulations to both teams for making it to the Blogger League championship!

Over in the Wordpress League, the Thorzuls just couldn't hang on, and they go down to the Kazis 5-3, as the Kazis win the series 4 games to 2. The Kazis will face the Florida Workmans for the championship title! Congrats to these two teams!

Look before posting... Advice I never gave nor followed #ootp update

Good morning, everyone! As it turns out, because I was a day behind, I did not think to look ahead at the OOTP schedule to see if there WAS a game scheduled for Oct 11. The answer is NO, there wasn't. So, please accept my apologies if you came here last night expecting to see another game result posted (mainly because I had said there would be before checking to see there wasn't a game scheduled).

Yes, yes, I know.. It's  a simulation and I could run the whole thing to the end of the World Series in two clicks if I wanted to. But, where is the fun in that!? No, no, I plan to keep on posting each gameday (or late, or early, or not at all sometimes - it's kind of a crapshoot, really) through the postseason.

I don't if it makes it more fun for those following along or not, but I love seeing how things play out. I actually enjoy making "radio broadcasts" of the games more than I thought I would. The problem with trying to do that is multi-tiered, however. The first issue is that of time and privacy. I have have very little of either to dedicate to it, so that makes it tough. I have recorded two games so far, and during each, we fun little things like the phone ringing or a visitor at the door. Makes for interesting lapses in the recording, even with editing. The other issue is that of size. The file sizes actually aren't bad in the scheme of things. Unfortunately, I have CenturyStinks DSL and we have a paltry 1.5 MB download and 256k upload. So, sending a 50-75 MB file up the pipe is painful at best. We are on the fringe of LTE, so every now and then, I can get a decent signal and use my phone's hotspot to transfer.

I believe I will record each game of the PAD Circus OOTP World Series, however. Just because I think that will be a fun thing to do.

I have mentioned here before, I believe, that once PAD Circus is over and I get everyone's packages put together (not just from this season, but from the previous ones as well), I will be writing a novel based on a fictional league all played out in OOTP. I have the league set up and have looked over the cast of characters. The main story will focus on two brothers who are ten years apart but both end up in the league. The older brother is either in his prime or is coming out of it (hard to say since the league hasn't started) and the other is yet to be drafted (that's actually already in the game). Will they play for the same team? Will they play for bitter rivals? I dunno. I am letting OOTP handle the mechanics. I will be writing the backstory and bringing the brothers, their teammates, managers, families, etc to life. I'm excited to see what happens when a simulation is used as the driving force behind a story. Should be fun!

As far as I know, we DO have an OOTP PAD Circus game scheduled for today, so check back later for the results. Four teams, a pair from each of the sub-leagues, duke it out to see who moves on to the championship round in the Tribecards PackADaily Circus Playoffs!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Playoff Action: Another team moves ahead!

Good morning, PAD Circus fans! The OOTP game is on October 10, so I have a little catching up to do. We'll run the 10th's game now and later this afternoon, I will run the game scheduled for Oct 11.

We've already seen the Workmans secure their place for the next round of playoff action. Which team will move ahead today? I can tell you that one team does move on as the remaining four teams duke it out for the chance to play in the semi-finals!

You can tell things are getting tight because we really didn't have any blowouts in this morning's action. We had a 1-run, a 2-run, and a 3-run win today. The question, though, is which margin led to the winning team moving on to the semi-finals? And, of course, which team was it!?

Let's have a little fun with this, shall we?

In the Tribecards/PlayAtThePlates game, the PlayAtThePlates scored a run in 3rd inning, leading 1-0.
In the NachosGrandes/FDNYs game, the NachosGrandes took a 2-run lead in the 4th.
The Thorzuls grabbed 3 runs in the 1st inning, but the Kazis answered with 3 or their own in the 4th inning.

By the end of the 7th inning, here is what things looked like:
Texas lead Arkansas 2-0
NachosGrandes and FDNYs were tied at 2.
The Thorzuls led the Kazis 7-4.

NONE of the games went into extra innings.

How did things pan out?  Let's take a look... After the break:

The Tribecards fail to score ANY runs, getting blanked by PlayAtThePlates 2-0. This puts Texas ahead of Arkansas, 3 games to 2! The Tribecards are absolutely stunned at their apparent collapse.

The FDNYs score a 9th inning run to take the game and the series away from the NachosGrandes. Congratulations FDNYs! Wow!

The Thorzuls keep the Kazis at bay, winning the game 8-5 and leading the series 3 games to 2.

That means we have one team from each sub league resting up for semi-final action! Who will move on? Who will go home? Will the Tribecards save themselves and tie the series, forcing a Game 7? Will the Kazis step up and keep the Thorzuls from claiming victory?

Stay Tuned later to find out!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Playoffs - One team moves ahead!

Good evening, baseball fans! We have quite the variety of happenings around the PAD Circus Playoffs!

First off, we have the Game Logs:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1Z8vNjtCJDAdXZGcDlWblZ6LWc&usp=drive_web

I am not going to jump right into results. Instead, I will present a few scenarios. You get to guess which match-up pertains to which scenario and then you can scroll down to see if you were right. Remember, here are the possible answers: Tribecards/PlayAtThePlates, NachosGrandes/FDNYs, Kazis/Thorzuls, Workmans/Quarrys.

First up, one team scored 18 runs in their game. They took full advantage of the hometown crowd to leverage an incredible victory. The winning team lead the series now, 3-1.

Second, this game went into extra innings in order to pull out a winner. And, the winning team managed to drive in 2 runs to win the game and to take the series!

Third, we see two teams on the board, but only one team grabs 7 runs in order to win the game 7-2, tying the series at 2 games each.

Fourth, the home team could not keep the visitors from outscoring them 6-3. This gives the winning team a 3-1 series lead.

#PackADailyCircus #ootp Playoffs Round 2, Game 3

Good evening, folks!! Well, as it turned out, there was a day off (Oct 7), so we are all caught up as of this post. Funny how that works out sometimes.

Managers: I have not made any roster changes since the playoffs began. If you would like me to run an AI roster change for you (That is, the computer evaluates your lineup and reassigns roster, batting order, etc) let me know and I'll be happy to accommodate!

In the interest of space and time, here is the link to our postseason folder:

And, here we have the results from Game 3. Looks like things are shaping up to be a few great contests and one blow-out.

The Arkansas Tribecards get blanked by the PlayAtThePlates, as Texas fights to keep a close eye on Round 3. Meanwhile, the FDNYs take a 2-1 lead over the NachosGrandes, scoring 3 runs in the 8th inning to overtake the lead and hold on for the win. The Kazis might have had the idea that they would simply steamroller the Thorzuls, but Wisconsin was having none of that, creaming the Kazis 10-2 to grab game 3 and stay close behind. The potential blowout? That comes by way of Florida as the Workmans have been working over the Quarrys this whole round. They now lead 3 games to none, and the Quarrys will have to win the next game to remain in the playoffs. We could see a complete sweep here, folks!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Round 2 of Playoff Action Begins!

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Tonight, we present the first game of Round 2 action.

Round 2 features these 8 teams, each hoping to move on to the World Series:

FDNYs vs NachosGrandes
PlayAtThePlates vs Tribecards
Quarrys vs Workmans
Thorzuls vs Quarrys

Game Logs:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1Z8vNjtCJDAdXZGcDlWblZ6LWc&usp=drive_web

I can only imagine some of those logs provide a great deal of entertainment and insight, considering the results!  For those, you can scroll downward:

The Tribecards land a monster 7-run 9th inning to take the lead from PlayAtThePlates and win the game! The NachosGrandes make a mockery of the FDNYs, who lose the first game by 10 runs. Ouch. The Thorzuls, coming off their victory over the Dawgbones, must have been partying too hard as the fall to the Kazis 4-3 on a 9th inning run. And the Quarrys get blanked by the Workmans, 6-0!

#PackADailyCircus #ootp - Thorzuls and Dawgbones Duke It Out

Good afternoon, folks! Now that the storms are gone and power has been restored to the Tribecards family abode, we have some serious catching up to do.

Right now, we have the final Round 1 Game of the Tribecards PAD Circus Playoffs, featuring the Wisconsin Thorzuls and the Virginia Dawgbones. This one moves the winner to the next round, as this series is tied at two games each.

The Dawgbones have fought hard to stay in the playoffs, but the Thorzuls are not going to go down without a fight.

If you'd like to read the game log and see what happens, pitch-by-pitch, use the link here:

If you are ready to see what happens, scroll beyond the image and get the news:

Here we go.....

The THORZULS take Game 5 and move on to Round 2, beating the Dawgbones 6-2 in the final game! The Dawgbones grabbed two runs and thought they had it wrapped up. Then, the Thorzuls came back to tie the game. Things remained at a stalemate until the 9th inning when Wisconsin tacked on 4 runs in the top of the inning. Virginia, dazed and confused, could do nothing to recover.

That means the following teams move on to play Round 2:

FDNYs vs NachosGrandes
PlayAtThePlates vs Tribecards
Quarrys vs Workmans
Thorzuls vs Quarrys

Round 2 is a Best-of-Seven series, so good luck to everyone!
