Thanks to Baseball Dad's recent post about Topps Chipz, I picked up a pack at Target today. If you aren't familiar with these little nuggets, they are poker chips dressed like baseballs with players on them. You get 4 to pack with a chance for glow-in-the-dark, relic, and whatever else Topps thought they could shove into a plastic poker chip. Here's the breakdown:
Elvis Andrus - Rangers - Jafronius (Wahoo!!)
A's Team Logo "Sticker" - Actually something more akin to a Colorforms vinyl piece.
Yoenis Cespedes - A's (Under the logo) - Eg9460 (Wahoo!!)
Brett Lawrie Glow-in-the-Dark - Blue Jays - Cattle Rustler (Wahoo!!)
Yadier Molina - Cardinals - E_Rose (Wahoo!!)
Wahoo!! Hit for the cycle on 4 chips, er Chipz!! Excellent! Congrats folks! There is a good chance we'll see more of these before the season ends. I like oddball stuff, and this certainly qualifies. Here is my question, though: Could other companies make these with the MLB license? These are NOT cards. I haven't read the specifics of the Topps Monopoly Agreement with the MLB to know the answer.
MLB isn't keen about players betting on the games, but putting players on poker chips is okay?
ReplyDeleteThese are nothing more than really thick 7-11 Slurpee Coins.
