#PackADailyCircus - 96-99 - Pinch Hit Donruss Packs

Well, yesterday was a thing that has happened. I hope you all aren't going to expect Beeg Mojo Heetz in every post now. Let's switch gears and open up some Donruss from 2005. That's the last time you could get  Donruss with logos on them. Don't worry, it won't be too much of a shock - Donruss still had gaudy too-busy colorful awful designs back then too! I'll start with a set that had a gaudy too-busy colorful awful pretty design: 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings.

Look at that design. LOOK AT IT. It's a terrible baseball card design! but it's so preeeeeeetty. How does Donruss do that?!  Notice also the dreadful design on cover boy George Brett's insert card. This is what happens when you value the placement of relics more than the picture on the card. Get used to seeing George in this post, Donruss threw a big ol' pile of money at him in 2005.

Up next is a pack of 2005 Playoff Absolute with a wrapper that might actually be appropriate for a 2015 Donruss product!

Bobby Crosby ruined a perfect pack! Oh well, now a lucky person gets a chance to draft him and get one of these beautiful Playoff cards for their very own. I spent about 15 minutes trying to think of a joke to make fun of this design but I got nothin' so these cards are obviously beautiful then. I mean, what even is this?? And blue foil on top of it! Ack, let's move on before these cards hypnotize me and make me become its evil minion. 2005 Zenith to the rescue!

I have no idea how Donruss didn't get a license in 2006. We got our first pinch hit Multi-Player card, and boy was it confusing looking up the manager for that one. Northampton Therapists is happy now but one of you mischievous persons can attempt to snatch Dontrelle away from him in the draft! MUAHAHA!!!  I'll let --David clean up that mess though.

Ok, three packs in and we have 14 cards. Curses! 15 cards or bust! Let's open another one, this time from 2008. 2008 Donruss Threads!

this is unlicensed Donruss and there are logos on the cards? Why'd Upper Deck get the chop from MLB then? I WANT MY 2010 GOUDEY! Ok, I think Donruss might have gotten in trouble for this set too but I don't remember because that was like 100 years ago. I got my first card though! Ironically it's a card I got bipped with a few years ago, but I can add it to the pile now. There's plenty of Free Agents for you all, anyone who wants to see what Sean Doolittle looked like before he turned into a lumberjack might want to put Sean high on their draft list. The post ends with a card of George Brett, which is very appropriate.
