Well, today is going to be another double header because I reached into the bog ol' box o' cards and pulled out a 2010 Bowman Chrome. It has all of three cards in it. For me, today, that's just not enough wax. So, I pulled out... 2009 Upper Deck Icons which has a whopping 5 cards in it. Well, together they make up almost a pack of modern-day cards. Er, wait, I guess you're getting more here for less. What can I say?
First up, 2010 Bowman Chrome (with possible "WhoWasThatGuy" Strasburg auto):
David Ortiz - Red Sox
Albert Almora - USA Baseball
Grant Hogue - Astros
I believe the USA Card will go to Bo for choosing "Minor League." Are USA Baseball cards considered minor league? I have no idea. But, that's my story. I dunno. If there's a fight over it, we'll figure something out.
Next up, Icons:
Jonathan Papelbon - Red Sox
Troy Tulowitzki - Rockies
Ichiro - Mariners - 20thAnn. Retrospective Mariners
Rick Ankiel - Cardinals
Joey Votto - Reds
Why is that Papelbon reminds me of iCarly? Yeah, having kids in the house means I watch a lot of tween shows. Bonus if you get the reference. Joey Votto always sounded like a character is some mafia movie... Or an extra on Laverne and Shirley, whichever.
Each day of the regular baseball season, I am busting open a pack of baseball cards. These are packs that I have laying around and/or that I have purchased recently on a whim. I list the cards in the pack and scan in some of them. I shoot for 9 cards, but sometimes I may scan more, other times fewer. It all depends on how things hit me in that particular pack. Oh yes, there will be duplication. I have a TON of packs from certain brands/years. I will, however, try to mix things up throughout the season.
For those keeping score, I know there are not actually 182 GAMEDAYS in the 2012 season. I am counting ALL the days between Opening Day and the last day of the regular season. Frankly, it's easier that way. Thanks for playing along.
Also, you are welcome to claim teams/players (Max 3 total). Rules are at the following:
