182 Packs of Baseball - 040

The big Four-Oh, ladies and gentlemen!  We've hit 40 days of busting open baseball card packs in the name of... Well, the name of... I suppose in the name of just doing it, really.  This started out as a fun side project, turned into a giveaway, and is growing into a daily "what's in the pot today" posting bonanza.

Today, I've pulled out another pack of 1998 Stadium Club "Evens" for us to gawk over:

Pat Meares - Twins
Mario Valdez - White Sox
Barry Larkin - Reds
Will Clark - Rangers
Mo Vaughn - Red Sox
John Olerud - Mets
Rafael Palmeiro - Orioles
Quinton McCracken - Rays - EXPANSION
Bob Abreu - Phillies - TRANSACTIONS
Checklist 2 of 2, of course.

"Bob" Abreu?  I don't recall him ever being called "Bob."  Wasn't he always "Bobby" Abreu?  And, one would hope that with name like McCracken," that guy would be blasting balls out of stadiums for years to come. I don't know much about him. Sure, i could look it up, but then where is the fun in that? I'll let you tell me.

Each day of the regular baseball season, I am busting open a pack of baseball cards.  These are packs that I have laying around and/or that I have purchased recently on a whim.  I list the cards in the pack and scan in some of them.  I shoot for 9 cards, but sometimes I may scan more, other times fewer.  It all depends on how things hit me in that particular pack.  Oh yes, there will be duplication.  I have a TON of packs from certain brands/years.  I will, however, try to mix things up throughout the season.

For those keeping score, I know there are not actually 182 GAMEDAYS in the 2012 season.  I am counting ALL the days between Opening Day and the last day of the regular season.  Frankly, it's easier that way.  Thanks for playing along.

Also, you are welcome to claim teams/players (Max 3 total). Rules are at the following:

  2. Quite the first name with Quinton. Guess it's better than Phil.

Thanks - I'll be here all week. Try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitress.
