182 Packs of Baseball - 031

It's here!  One full month of baseball.  The season started on April 5 and here we are sitting on May 5 - Cinco de Mayo!  Man, if I had some latin-version packs to open, today would be a great day for it.  But, I don't. So, we raise a glass and pick a pack: 1986 Donruss ML All-Stars.

Oh, to clarify yesterday's blurb about unclaimed cards - any dupes, trips, etc that go unclaimed (that is, they are left over after any possible collation) will be distributed among all participants as well.

Hank Aaron - Braves - Puzzle 46, 47, 48
Carlton Fisk - White Sox - Pop-Up
Ryne Sandberg - Cubs

Checklist - Really? Sorry, folks.
Graig Nettles - Padres

Man, checklists should NEVER count as one of the cards in a pack.  When I was a kid, and I'm sure I've told you this before, we used to trade checklists based on what players' names were on it - Mike Schmidt on the list?  That was as good as having a Schmidt card in hand.  We were simple kids.

Each day of the regular baseball season, I am busting open a pack of baseball cards.  These are packs that I have laying around and/or that I have purchased recently on a whim.  I list the cards in the pack and scan in some of them.  I shoot for 9 cards, but sometimes I may scan more, other times fewer.  It all depends on how things hit me in that particular pack.  Oh yes, there will be duplication.  I have a TON of packs from certain brands/years.  I will, however, try to mix things up throughout the season.

For those keeping score, I know there are not actually 182 GAMEDAYS in the 2012 season.  I am counting ALL the days between Opening Day and the last day of the regular season.  Frankly, it's easier that way.  Thanks for playing along.

Also, you are welcome to claim teams/players (Max 3 total). Rules are at the following:

182 Packs of Baseball - 030

The 30th day of baseball!  We've been busting packs for almost a month now.  We've also amassed quite a stack of cards to be handed out!  I can't remember if I posted this in the rules or not, but any cards not claimed by teams/players/etc will be divided up among *all* participants.  That is, of course, we have anything not claimed by the time we get to the end.  You never know!

So, we hit the 30th day of baseball pack breaks with a pack of 1991 Studio.

Rod Carew - Twins - Puzzle - 40, 41, 42
Jose Lind - Pirates
Terry Pendleton - Braves
Marquis Grissom - Expos
Bip Roberts - Padres
Lance Parrish - Angels

Greg Vaughn - Brewers
Ruben Sierra - Rangers
Mark Whiten - Indians - WAHOO!! There's a Triber in the pack!
Steve Sax - Yankees
David Justice - Braves
Mike Fitzgerald - Expos

Well, we...got...BIPPED!  Dang, man.  Turns out we also got Tribed, had a little Sax, and a bit of Justice tossed in for good measure.

182 Packs of Baseball - 029

I have to admit, with all the packs of older stuff in the big box, it surprises me when I pull something post-2000.  But, hey, the luck of the draw is the luck of the draw.  Today, we're looking at a pack of 2004 Topps Series One.  It's been a long time since I've seen one of these packs.

Mariano Rivera - Yankees
Dustin Mohr - Twins
Brett Tomko - Cardinals

2003 NL Hits Leaders - Pujols (Cardinals), Helton (Rockies), Pierre (Marlins)
2004 San Diego Future Stars - Bernis Castro, Khalil Greene
Dave Roberts - Dodgers

Well, there is no surprise as to which card is the "biggie" here.  Well, to me, anyway, that would be Rivera.  Perhaps others would argue another card provides the biggest "bang."

182 Packs of Baseball - 028

Come on in, folks, grab a seat.  I'm not sure what we'll face today, but I can't think of a better way to kick things off than to crack open a pack of cards!  Let's see, today's selection from the big ol' box of packs yields: 1997 NEW Pinnacle Hobby.  I wish we could find some cool inserts in these.  But, I figure since they were a bulk buy through eBay, they aren't going to give us much in that direction.  Of course, I don't actually mind, since I'm having a great time doing this little project!

Joe Carter - Blue Jays
Chris Snopek - White Sox
Tom Glavine - Braves
Matt Lawton - Twins
Carlos Garcia - Blue Jays

Andy Benes - Cardinals
Tim Naehring - Red Sox
Jim Edmonds - Angels
Matt Williams - Indians - WAHOO! Score a Triber!
Juan Gonzalez - Rangers

Hot dog!  Snagged an Indians player in there.  Of course, Carter, Glavine, and couple others in there are nothing to sneeze at, either.  Not a bad pack, especially had we busted this open back in '97.

182 Packs of Baseball - 027

Welcome to the beginning of a new month!  April flew by pretty quickly in pack busting land here on Tribecards!  I hope everyone has at least picked up a card or two along the way!  If not, have no fear - we still have a LOT of baseball ahead of us.

To help us kick off May, I'm opening up a pack of 2006 Topps Series 1.

Carlos Lee - Brewers
Mike Cameron - Padres
Troy Glaus - Diamondbacks

Todd Greene - Rockies
Mickey Mantle - Yankees (MM2004)
Series One Checklist (2 of 3)
Team Card - Mariners

Well, see anything that made you jump up and down?  The Todd Greene is a little goofy.
