I am getting a late post in tonight because my daughter's Dixie League-ish rule softball team had their first official game of the season. I have to say, it is WAY different being inside the dugout than on the other side of the fence. It is a lot of fun, though! Our girls won 12-3 or 12-5 or it could have been 10-3 or 10-5. I didn't really keep up and the scoreboard was missing more than a few bulbs.
Tonight, I am opening a pack of 2012 Update Series. 12 cards per pack.
Matt Albers - Red Sox - FREE AGENT
Alfredo Simon - Reds - FREE AGENT
Chris Nelson - Rockies - FREE AGENT
Josh Hamilton - Rangers - JRBeasley (Wahoo!!)
Edward Mujica - Cardinals - FREE AGENTS
Casey McGehee (Red Border) - Pirates - FREE AGENT
Jason Castro (Gold 1866/2012) - Astros - FREE AGENT
Billy Butler (Golden Moments) - Royals - Josh.Denhartog (Wahoo!!)
Joe Smith - Indians (Wahoo!) - FREE AGENT
Buster Posey (All-Star) - Giants - Community Gum (Wahoo!!)
C.J. Wilson (All-Star) - Angels - CattleRustler (Wahoo!!)
Yu Darvish (All Star) - Rangers - CattleRustler (Wahoo!!)
Whew! For a moment, I didn't think we were going to have any successful managers. But, JRBeasley started us off and CattleRustler finished strongly! I have a feeling Jason Castro (Not the American Idol dude) will be a hot target in the next Free Agent Draft.
I am confused on how the free agent draft works. If the guy listed number 1 is gone in the first round by my pick, my pick gets skipped? Last draft I Dont think I got a guy until the third round. I figured if my first guy was gone my first round pick would then be the next guy on my list. Just trying to figure out how it works...
ReplyDeleteI tried doing the 'collapsing' draft thing, and it was a mess. So, yes, if your pick for the first round gets chosen before your turn, you get no pick that round. That is why I do a snaking draft. Round 1 goes down the list, Round 2 goes up the list, and so forth. The managers' names are randomized so that each draft has a different order. Basically, I made it either "fair for everyone" or "unfair for everyone" depending on your perspective and/or your place in the draft. Of course, the collapsing this happened on the initial draft of 20 players. Maybe by cutting it back to 10 for Free Agency, it might work out to try the collapsing snake draft again. I'm open to trying it again if folks prefer it.
ReplyDeleteI do think the collapsing method would be more "fair" as everyone would end up with approximately the same number of players. That being said, I am perfectly happy either way. I just appreciate being included in a chance to get some free cards!
