Tribecards from Outer Space: More Mailbag and an Itching to Scratch

Hey everyone!! As I mentioned in my last post, P-Town Tom sent a nice box of wax packs for us to open this season.  What you didn't know was that he wasn't the only one to drop some goodies off at the Tribecards household!

Mark (from Stats-on-the-Back) sent a one-of-a-kind sketch card:

I think anyone that can take an image from cardboard and translate that into a drawing on cardboard is awesome in my book!  Mark was kind enough to include the original Topps card with his sketch, too!!

Thank you SO MUCH! This one goes into my personal collection of custom cards. Very cool!! The note included said that it "only took 3-1/2 years" for him to send it to me. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm excited that it found its way home.

Also in the mail bag, my haul from a recent Gypsy Queen group break over at the DailyDimwit.  Not only did I get Indians cards, but since I was on the "share" list, I shared my duplicates with others and theirs were shared with me (plus some bit of randomization, I assume).  Here are some of the cards:

Finally, but certainly not "last" by any stretch, Kerry sent me two stacks of cards loaded with Tribe players! There are definitely some cards in there that I have not seen before (or don't remember seeing, anyway), so I am looking forward to sorting these out and adding them to my collection!

Thanks a TON, guys!! I am very humbled by your generosity. Very cool cards!

Now, I know why many of you are here... You want to see what we're busting open tonight!  Well, have I got a treat for you! I am opening a pack of 1981 Topps scratch-offs AND a pack of 1998 Pacific Aurora!

First up, the 1981 Scratch-offs. 18 cards total (9 AL and 9 NL): Note: YES, I will be breaking these apart to give each manager their rightful player. I am not counting these as "multi-player" cards. Also, I want to note that Tom specifically mentioned to me that these were a Listia win, and I thought it was important to make that distinction (versus the packs he bought at the store).

I had fun busting open this pack. It's been a long time since I can remember opening any of these. Naturally, there is a strong temptation to scratch the dots and play the game. Haha!

  1. I love that mini Bob Feller with the striped stirrups/socks.

Rose and Carew? Plus a couple of nice contributors like Foster, Clark, & and Cruz? Solid scratch off pack if you ask me.

    That was fun!

  2. When my son was born, you sent me a big box of random cardboard goodness. I looked for something to send in return. You own every Tribe card there is so I looked for an autographed vintage card on a budget. The Mossi card looked great despite the auto in ballpoint pen. I decided to do a sketch of the card. Well, my son turned 3 in January. It took 3 1/2 years for me to get your package sent to you. Sorry for the delay.
