My family went to San Francisco for vacation recently. While there, we took in an Oakland A's game since the Giants were out of town. Rather than just post pictures, I decided to make the photos into "cards." Enjoy!

My trip to The Jake
Monday, my family and I loaded up and headed to Cleveland from Pittsburgh. We spent the day checking out a couple things before heading to the Indians game. Just as we approached, the bottom fell out of a threatening sky.
It rained for a while, and since we weren't sure at that point if there would be a game, we snapped some pics. We happened to park on the centerfield side of the park near Gate C. So, we got in, each of us snagging a cool Cabrera bobblehead, and headed to Heritage Park.
Heritage Park is amazing in the rain, so I bet it is even sweeter when one is not being showered by an evening rain. The rain wasn't heavy, but it was constant. I love the Bob Feller wall. My favorite spot, of course, is the future home of the Thome statue.
We took Emily to KidZone where she made a foam visor with lots of decorations and I played a very fun card game with some of the zone staff. The cards are round with various pictures, logos, etc. each player gets a card. The center pile gets one card flipped over. Players look for a match on their card and the center card. Yell out your match first and you win the card. The player with the most cards at the end wins. My daughter climbed the rock wall after her crafting was done. To 4 year old, the wall must seem huge. To my daughter (not quit a teen), it was almost too small to enjoy. But, she did enjoy it anyway. We also managed to get in a fast-moving photo line and took our pic with Aaron Cunningham. He is a very nice guy.
The whole time, I had been talking and texting with Jack (known as Baseball Dad in the blogosphere). After the game was underway, we finally met near the bleachers. That was cool! We chatted a bit. I have saving wrappers from the breaks to give him but with the rain, I left them in the car. Turns out I will be mailing them after all. Haha, figures.
The game itself was great - a sweet battle back and forth between the two Ohio teams. Even sweeter: the Indians won, putting the horrid playing in Pittsburgh behind them.
I took lots of pictures that will get posted after we get back from our trip. In the meantime, here are some from my iPhone (I am using the Blogger app to post while on the road).

This year's Christmas card? I'm thinking so...
(Click on post title to see the pic taken at the Nationals/Cardinals game this summer).
When the photographer said, "Here, let me take one of you with the stadium in the background," this isn't what we were expected. We thought you'd be able to see into the field. Or, maybe at least something that would let a casual viewer know that this actually DID take place at Nationals Field. Instead, I feel like I've been photoshopped into a picture any non-descript ballpark. Ah well, the memories from the game far outweigh the still shot taken before things got under way!

Buck-A-Box: Mailed Out, Finally! ..and rambling..
Hey everyone! My apologies for the folks that participated in the Buck-A-Box Break, but I was just today (Friday) able to mail out your bubbleopes! Things were too busy at work for me to get them mailed during lunch as I had planned. Luckily, we are off on Fridays since we work longer weekdays. That means you had to wait just a few more days than I had originally planned to ship them off.
I have to get an address from MattR, which amazes me considering how much trading/giveaway we've done over the years. Chalk it up to my aging, I guess.
Everyone else is good to go. After a quick review of notes, I realized I did not send the mini sportflics trivia cards from Mark to Paul. So, you two will have to work that out between you.
Not that I've been posting with any consistency lately anyway, I thought I would say that Tribecards may be a bit slow this coming week as the family will be heading to Washington, DC, for our annual "Let's get out of Arkansas" vacation! We will be taking in a Nationals game while we're there!
One of the biggest additions we made to our vacations is baseball game attendance! Starting with our trip to Chicago in 2005 (we watched the Sox since the Cubs were out of town), we've made sure that we catch a game during our time away from home. We did miss the year we went to Disney World, but you won't hear us complain on that one!
