Good day, everyone! Hope things are cruising along in your neck of the woods. The Indians, at the time of this writing, have won TWELVE games in a row!! WAHOO!! Let's Go Tribe! On the other side of the League, the Cubs are having a heckuva season!
I listened to an audio story not along ago called "The Last Pennant Before Armageddon" by WP Kinsella in which the end of the world depends on the Cubs winning the World Series. Great tale!
Well, in honor of it NOT being the end of the world just yet, I am ripping open a couple packs:
1981 Fleer:
Charlie Spikes (with gum attached) - Braves - Jafronius (Wahoo!!)
Rick Sutcliffe - Dodgers - Night Owl (Wahoo!!)
Mike Jorgensen - Mets - Buckstore Cards (Wahoo!!)
Bob Boone - Phillies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Dan Schatzeder - Tigers - Ryan G (Wahoo!)
Gary Weiss - Dodgers - Night Owl (Wahoo!! x2)
Ray Burris - Mets - Buckstore Cards (Wahoo!! x2)
Tug McGraw - Phillies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!! x2)
Butch Hobson - Red Sox - Thoughts & Sox (Wahoo!!)
Carney Lansford - Angels - Angels in Order (Wahoo!!)
Manny Mota - Dodgers - Night Owl (Wahoo!! x3)
Jim Lentine - Tigers - Ryan G (Wahoo!! x2)
Mike Torrez - Red Sox - Thoughts & Sox (Wahoo!! x2)
Dave Frost - Angels - Angels in Order (Wahoo!! x2)
Jim Kern - Rangers - Play at the Plate (Wahoo!!)
Mickey Hatcher - Dodgers - Night Owl (Wahoo!! x4)
Glenn Hoffman - Red Sox - Thoughts & Sox (Wahoo!! x3)
Wow! Almost everyone that pulled a card pulled more than one card! That is crazy!! Congratulations, managers! Tug McGraw was one of my favorite pitchers when I was kid. Heck, there are several of my childhood "favorite players" in this pack: Sutcliffe, McGraw, Lansford, Mota, Hatcher... Those were some of the players that I collected back in those days. What a great trip down memory lane.
2015 Stars and Stripes Longevity:
AJ Cole Longevity - Nationals - CaptKirk42 (Wahoo!!)
Zack Collins Longevity - White Sox - Dominic FDNY (Wahoo!!)
Xavier LeGrant Longevity - College Ball - FREE AGENT
Trenton Clark Longevity (Red Text?) - Brewers - Jacksonville Jobu (Wahoo!!)
Lucas Sims - Braves - Jafronius (Wahoo!!)
Some of those guys we have seen before. Some were hard to match up with a team. In fact, LeGrant didn't seem to have been drafted so far as I can tell, so I created a new category for college-aged players not yet drafted.
2014 Goodwin Champions:
Jim Kelly - Football - Ventura County Royals (Wahoo!!)
Jimmie Rodgers Mini - Singer - Dayf (Wahoo!!)
Oyster Burns - Brooklyn Bridegrooms - FREE AGENT
Blake Bortles - Football - Ventura County Royals (Wahoo!! x2)
The Royals open and close the pack! Nice job! I was surprised that we pulled a baseball player from a team I have never heard of. So, that will be a new team in the Free Agent pool! Dayf gets a special mention for grabbing the only other card in the pack!
