Earlier tonight, er last night, Jim Thome hit HR 598, bringing him just 2 knocks away from joining the 600 Club. Of course, most people don't know this. In fact, many folks, even baseball fans, have no idea. Why not? Because Thome is a nice guy who doesn't do drugs. He was even voted Sports Illustrated "Nicest guy in baseball." CONGRATS, Mr. Thome! I can't wait to see the next two!
I hope he gets there quicker than he did #500. He was with the White Sox then and if I remember right, he got stuck on #499 for awhile. Or at least awhile for him, anyways. I like him as well because of the nice guy factor.
