Quick Note: Managers/Players List

Hey folks! Real quick, I have added a link on the "Pack-A-Day Info" page above that points to a PDF with a list of managers and their assigned players. I will update that each week after each Free Agent draft.

I am also posting the link here, for the sake of making it easy to find this time. Just remember, after this, please visit the "Info" page above to view the picks.

Another quick note: If you would like your "Registered Name" to appear as something other than the first part of your email address, please let me know and I will fix that for you.  I've had a couple folks request that, and I have no problems doing that at all!

Stay Tuned. We've got Friday's pack to bust open and then the Free Agent Draft will start tomorrow, too!

License? We don't need no stinkin' license!

Welcome to the Thursday edition of the "Tribecards from Outerspace" giveaway thingy! Today, I've got a pack of 2012 Panini Triple Play.  7 cards per pack, though I use the term "cards" loosely as there could be stickers, tattoos, eye blacks and whatever else Panini puts in here.

Troy Tulowitzki - Rockies - Erin (Wahoo!!)
Carlos Quentin - Padres - FREE AGENT
Miguel Montero - Diamondbacks - FREE AGENT
Stephen Strasburg (Focus) - Nationals - IrishTribeFan (Wahoo!!)
Paul Konerko (Sticker) - Jccsst (Wahoo!!)
A-Rod (Puzzle 2/9) - Yankees - Matthew.T.Wilson (Wahoo!!)
Orlando Hudson (Puzzle 8/9) - White Sox - FREE AGENT

This is a pretty neat pack, and very well done considering there are not MLB licensed. This shows some serious creativity on Panini's part! There are ways to make cool, fun cards without dealing with the MLB and their Topps Monopoly.  Kudos to Panini.  And, an even bigger congrats to the managers who scored players from the pack!

Season Break: Shiny, happy people

Hey, everyone!  We're still working through the first week of Home Openers around the league (heck, Cleveland's isn't until the 8th).  Hope your favorite team has started off the season well. And, if not, just remember there are a LOT of games ahead of us!

We're jumping forward in time from yesterday. Today, I've got a pack of 2011 Topps Series Two for you.

Randy Wells - Cubs - FREE AGENT
Corey Hart - Brewers - FREE AGENT
Geovany Soto - Cubs - Pedersej (Wahoo!!)
Feliz/Molina - Rangers - FREE AGENT/Matt Wilson (Wahoo!!)
Gavin Floyd - White Sox - Borosny (Wahoo!!)
Derek Holland (Silver Shiny) - Rangers - James Haynes (Wahoo!!)
Andre Dawson - Expos - Jafronius (Wahoo!!)
Adam Moore - Mariners - FREE AGENT
Travis Ishikawa - Giants - FREE AGENT
Dan Johnson - Rays - FREE AGENT
Adrian Gonzalez - Red Sox - Dominicfdny (Wahoo!!)
Tony Gwynn (Diamond Giveaway) - Padres - Backstop.Cards (Wahoo!!)

Nice mix of drafted players and free agents there!  We pulled our first multi-player card! Since only Molina was drafted at this time, I am putting that card into Matt's collection.  If someone later adds Feliz to their team, then they will get all the Feliz cards and any future multi-player cards with Feliz will be put into the multi-player pile for him and whatever other player(s) pictured.  Clear as mud?

In the meantime, though, several folks added to their collection and a couple finally score their first card! I forgot that the Diamond Giveaway cards had players on them, so Gwynn was a late addition and does not appear in the scan.

From Outer Space? Quite possibly...

We are still enjoying the first few days of home openers around the league. For those of us collecting bits of cardboard with guys playing baseball on them, each day of the season opens to us like a present. Of course, if our guys do poorly or our team loses, it's more like a present from Jokey Smurf.

Speaking of Smurfs, sort of, we are stepping back a little ways to open this pack. In fact, it so happens that this pack comes from the year I graduated high school: 1987. Wow. And now, for many collectors, this would be considered "vintage."

We've got a pack of 1987 Topps Regular:

Paul Assenmacher - Braves - FREE AGENT
Juan Samuel - Phillies - FREE AGENT
Carmen Castillo - Indians (Wahoo!!) - FREE AGENT
Claudell Washington - Yankees - FREE AGENT
Donnie Moore - Angels - FREE AGENT
Tim Lollar - Red Sox - FREE AGENT
Jim Wohlford - Expos - FREE AGENT
Dennis Powell - Dodgers - FREE AGENT
Orlando Mercado - Rangers - FREE AGENT
Glenn Braggs - Brewers - FREE AGENT
Kurt Stillwell - Reds - FREE AGENT
Greg Pryor - Royals - FREE AGENT
Dwayne Murphy - Athletics - FREE AGENT
Ron Roenicke - Phillies - FREE AGENT
Gary Carter (ALL-STAR) - Mets - Paul (Wahoo!!)
Tom Candiotti - Indians (Wahoo!!) - Workman41 (Wahoo!!)
Barry Jones - Pirates - FREE AGENT

Wow. The Barry Jones card is in awful shape. The gum was partially stuck to the back, plus the oils soaked through the card completely. It is one ugly beast.  On the upside, we did manager to pull TWO cards of this pack that belong to our managers!  And, depending on your viewpoint, we also added a whole slew of folks to the Free Agent list!  Lots of players up for grabs.

Now, that's some Goudey stuff, right there! No foolin!

We're here at the first official Opening "Day" of the 2013 baseball season. Time to crack open another pack of wax and see where our fearless managers stand!  You will notice, I've promoted everyone participating in the giveaway from "participant" to "manager." It's the least I could I do.

Today, we're looking at a pack of 2009 Upper Deck Goudey.  8 cards per pack.

John Lackey - Angels - FREE AGENT
Justin Masterson - Red Sox - FREE AGENT
Tim Hudson - Braves - James (Wahoo!!)
Nolan Ryan - Rangers - Prowlingcat03 (Wahoo!!)
Jimmy Rollins - Phillies - Dawgbones (Wahoo!!)
Albert Pujols - Cardinals - Matthew (Wahoo!!)
Frank Thomas - Athletics - Brauer144 (Wahoo!!)
Trevor Hoffman - Brewers - Backstop.Cards (Wahoo!!)

Now, THIS is what I'm talkin' about!!  Six of eight cards already have managers! That is fantastic. I hope we see much more of this kind of thing as the season goes on.  Congrats to each of you that pulled a card from today's pack!
